Hi all, I just received word from my prehealth committee that I have a minor non academic IA on my record. The incident: When I was a freshman, the dorms at my school had a no-overnight guest policy due to COVID. I had checked in another student to my dorm but forgotten to check them out when they left. I received an email from Student Conduct reading: The [Student Conduct Office] were recently notified that you were documented for an alleged violation of one or more of the following... Research vs. Leadership as MME

Hi. I am debating between a research experience vs. a cultural club leadership experience for my MME and would love to hear people's opinions. 1. Research - I joined as a freshman and was in the lab as an undergraduate research assistant until the end of my sophomore year (300 hours). I presented a poster at the department's undergraduate poster session and was also recognized at the department's award ceremony for excellence in research (probably just because I was one of the youngest... Risky personal statement?

I’m currently working through a draft of my personal statement after a long while of brainstorming. I’m almost done with it, but am realizing that it doesn’t really represent me well. My PS, as it exists right now, is about my past exposure to dementia via a combination of work as an activity aide in a long-term care facility and some extensive clinical research on dementia (quality-of-care stuff). I like that it has a clear and consistent narrative, but the issue is that this isn’t my main... Read more ..read more

Hello folks, I attend a t10 institution and I'm projected to have a 3.90/3.89 cGPA/sGPA by the end of fall 2024 semester. I currently have a 524 MCAT. I was OG planning on graduating early (fall 2024) instead of may 2025, but should i take an extra semester to get my cGPA to a 3.9? Would it make a difference to the T20s? Thanks ..read more

Research Heavy Schools? Help with school list

I am a fairly competitive applicant (517/3.86, AmeriCorps service year, involvement in leadership in college, many clinical hours, etc) but have 0 research. I want to apply to some reach/high-falutin places, but do not know which ones have research as a soft requirement. For example, I imagine its possible I get in to U Chicago Pritzker (service focus and I'm within 25% of median GPA and MCAT) but not Yale (soft requirement on research). Which schools should I basically not waste an... Read more ..read more

April 30th Deadline

Hi all, I was wondering if there is a hard rule on April 30th about withdrawing from all but one school. Also are we supposed to withdraw from everything by April 29th at 11:59PM (by the start of April 30th) or April 30th at 11:59PM (at the end)? If we do not narrow the list to one by that deadline are we pulled off of the accepted students list? I am expecting to get more information on my financial aid on that date so the timeline matters to me ..read more

Help with waitlist

hello, I am waitlisted at my top choice school. I would really like to attend based on the school's philosophy aligning perfectly with mine, however, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and also being close to home by attending this school has emerged as a critical consideration for me as well. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to stand out/get off the waitlist in addition to writing a letter of intent and if I should include the details about my father in the... How does AMCAS re-take calc work?

I earned an F in Algebra 10+ years ago. This obviously drags my sGPA down. By literally half a point. I understand that re-takes average out. So an F + A would = C. This would bump my sGPA from 3.1 to almost 3.6. Big difference. Perhaps a stupid question: Does the re-take have to happen at the same University? Or can I retake it at my current university and AMCAS will still know to average it? I ask because the titles at each institution are different. My F class was "Intermediate... Read more ..read more
