Sharing customs from a friend - Ryan's minis

A while back, Chris, from the Nachos Grande blog, posted about his friend's passing, and offered to share custom minis that his friend had made. I received a nice envelope of Ryan's custom 2008 A&G minis with their Munnatawket backs. This was the mini that really caught my eye! I do love Mr. Met! I'm sure a smile will come to my face every time I see this card. Here is the Munnatawket back for these minis. I'll show some individual cards to comment on before showing other minis in groups. Although I'm not a Cutch collector, I was happy to receive this mini.  I've go ..read more

I popped into my local card store the other day to pick up some card sheets to store those vintage tobacco sized card sets that I showed in my last two posts. While I was there, I saw they had some football monster boxes sorted by team. I asked for the box that had the Browns cards in it, and was laughingly told that it was a pretty small section since I usually do a pretty good job of buying their Browns cards. I sorted through the Browns cards there, and found the following cards that I needed. I'm always happy to find some of the old refractors from Topps Chrome sets, and also to find a ..read more

When I'm at a card show, many things catch my eye. I'll buy all sorts of things if they catch my eye, and the price is right. A while ago, I was at my local card show, at a mostly non-sport dealer that I often buy things from, when another collector that I knew stopped by. The dealer greeted him, and pulled out a whole bunch of old tobacco type card sets for him to look through. The other collector is mostly a military collector, but other history type card sets also catch his eye. He generally isn't interested in sports cards though. As he was looking through the sets, certain sports card set ..read more

This post will catch up with the cards that I added to my collection from 2020 - 2022. There will be one more post in the series to catch up on some cards from earlier seasons that I had already passed when I had acquired them. Three more Odell Beckham Jr. cards to add to my collection.  The card on the left is a base card from 2020 Panini Illusions. I prefer the other Illusions cards where they have a different player in the background, as opposed to having a second photo of the player whose card it is. The middle card is a base card from 2020 Panini Prestige. The card on the left ..read more

After a break in these posts to blog about attending last Sunday's card show in Syracuse, this post will continue catching up on my collection with recent purchases with cards from 2018 and 2019.   Antonio Callaway was a fourth round draft pick, out of Florida, in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was released by the Browns during the 2019 season, after a four game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and then showing up late for meetings and practices. The top card is his 2018 Panini Contenders Optic rookie card. The bottom Duke Johnson card is a Mother Lode ..read more

Another Syracuse Card Show Road Trip

I contacted Night Owl last week to see if he was planning on attending last Sunday's card show in Syracuse. When he indicated that he was planning on going, I asked if he wanted to meet up again, and go to the show together. We agreed that we would meet in Watertown at 10:00 and drive the last hour together to the Syracuse show. I woke up nice and early, and made the two hour drive to our meeting. The drive went well, going through customs went smoothly, and soon we were meeting at our usual Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot meeting place. I was greeted with some pre-card show cards. The top ca ..read more

Continuing on with cards from 2017, which will include another rookie Quarterback. Two autographs of rookies in this photo. The card on the left is of Caleb Brantley, a Defensive Tackle that was drafted out of Florida in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. This card is a Rookie Reflex Signatures insert card, numbered out of 325, from 2017 Panini Absolute. The card on the right is of Matthew Dayes, a Running Back from NC State, who was drafted by the Browns in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. This is his base card from 2017 Panini Contenders. To go along with his rooki ..read more

I've still got a few more posts after this to catch up on cards that I've added to my collection over the last year or so. These are cards from 2016. Tight End Gary Barnidge starts the post off in the top card with a Red parallel from 2016 Panini Origins. Shon Coleman, whose high school card appeared with the 2010 cards, was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and has this Autographs insert card from the college 2016 SAGE HIT set. Corey Coleman was drafted by the Browns, out of Baylor, with the fifteenth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played two seasons with the Browns, a ..read more

Moving into some 2015 cards that I added to my collection, there are a lot of rookies in this post. The Browns had twelve draft picks in the 2015 NFL Draft. E.J. Bibbs, on the left card, is the first rookie in this post. And even though I said the Browns drafted twelve players in 2015, Bibbs was an undrafted free agent from Iowa State. He was a tight end that played seven games with the Browns, with one reception for 7 yards. The Bibbs card is an Autographs Prizm insert card from 2015 Panini Prizm Collegiate Draft Picks. The card on the right is another High School card, being an Autograp ..read more
