Picking right up where I left off yesterday with the Black Bat before moving into the well you'll see. Okay that finishes the Black Bat portion. Now we will move into the Blue Bat portion, just NOT Topps. Nope, these are O-pee-chee Batman cards, and nearly the entire set. I must say here that the backs are certainly different. They contain puzzle pieces.. Lots of different characters too. Each having their own puzzle ranging from 6 cards to 10 cards. With that said, I don't have any extras to put together the puzzles from the OPC set. I have however scanned the backs on the ..read more

When it comes to non sports cards I tend to like the vintage cards especially that from my birth year: 1966. I've made a habit of scooping up any 1966 Batman cards from the cheap boxes for the last fifteen years or so. It didn't matter if they were black bat, blue bat, or red bat series. There is also a couple that don't fit into those sets or categories too. I kept these cards over the years in a stack setting somewhere within my house. Well, last show in Jax, Daryl had a box of them. Misc. black, blue, and red bats. I counted them there was exactly 100 cards. I made a deal with a litt ..read more

Made through another series of so called dime cards in this case nickel cards. With doc's closeout tonight that brings us to the other purchase I made at the April card show in Jax. It came via Daryl and was of the vintage variety, just not sports cards. Definitely will have several posts to cover the 100 cards that I brought home and added to what I already had. Any guesses as to what the subject is? Huh? Come on, throw something out there ..read more

Jackie Robinson Day.

Batter up! Time for my annual JRD appreciation. Now I would like to lay the groundwork here. The cards tonight are JRD's cards (well two are). I do have a Jackie Robinson PC, and maybe next year I will add those to the post. The cards here tonight are all PC dupes or guys that are not PC guys. That is how nearly all of my mini collections are set up. Braves binder first, then PC, then mini's.  The first "batch" we have tonight are cards (dupes if you will) of guys that also wore Jackie's jersey number 42.  Right off you see the two mentioned JR cards. It is his day so I had ..read more

Okay here we begin with what I originally forecasted as two posts but have decided to go with three. Up in Jacksonville at the card show last weekend the last purchase I made was from Doc who hails from the Ormond area and I see him frequently on my visits there. Heck sometimes he is actually helping Kyle out by working the store when Kyle, Mike, or Bill can not. I have been scoring big or good deals from Doc for years. You can back to my $20.00 or less monster boxes from 2, 3, even 4 years ago (while I was up in GA). Several deals since I've been back home (1.5 years now). No, this seri ..read more

Vintage buys from Chuck

This past Saturday in Jax. I stuck to my promise to myself to not buy a bunch of stuff unless it was a super deal. I did not find any super deals. I made a small purchase from Fred, Chuck, Daryl, and Doc. Each were unique in their own rights. Last night you seen mainly current (2024) Braves inserts, parallels, and high end from Fred, tonight you'll see vintage from Chuck.  Chuck always has some great vintage cards. These were in his discount box. Not sure if I even needed them, but because they are also PC guys not matter if I also had them in the set build already. I don't ha ..read more

Last Saturday I went to Jax even though I didn't get any sleep the night before and my back was less than par. After missing February and skipping out on the Villages I went on. I only stayed for 3 hours instead of the entire 6 hours. I made a handful of smaller purchases. I'll take them one at a time. The last purchase will be spread over multiple posts not because of the size (100 cards), but due to the fact that they are NOT sports cards and it will take that many posts to properly display them. Okay I stopped first by my buddy Fred, scooped up some Braves and something not Braves an ..read more

Oh my goodness, I forgot about my annual tribute to this day! Here it is, and it is a long one for you new followers. Can't believe I nearly forgot to post this. Now a connected/related item is a book that came in the other day from Mr. Riley. I forgot what the deal was, but here is that book. Well, the back cover. The front has a fellow named Nolan Ryan on it. The Sporting News official 1974 Baseball record book. Thanks.  ..read more

I changed my mind!

The title says it all. I had that monster box from Daryl back in February staring me in the face and leading into the weekend was sort through and pick out maybe 500 cards to post over a week. The feeling of that dauntless task never left. So I changed my mind.... forget about it.... moving on. Sure there were deals on some cards that you will not see here, but it's not like I can't come up with a handful of posts without it. So Gone nada zippo.  Instead I have enough material to cover the lost territory so to speak. I'll start with this very very short post tonight regarding my tri ..read more
