Along the values we share with our customers and partners regarding nature, we have decided to participate in giving back to mother earth what we take away from her. In our last trip hiking in the Pyrenees with Laurel & Mark from Denver; Colorado, we have obtained a Carbon Offset Certificate. Calculating the amount of CO2 spill into atmosphere during those days, we have compensated it participating in a reforestation project in the State of Para, in Brazil. Little seeds for a future carpet of new natural wonders covering the earth. The post Carbon Offset Certificate appeared first on ..read more

The sunset turns on red the ocean´s surface as we arrive to the harbour of Lekeitio after one week walking, as it was done 700 years ago by those men and women bringing the wine and the wool from Rioja region and Castile. We are carrying just a backpack, with nothing to sell, but full of memories. Step by step, side by side, we have built a path full of experiences, mixes of past and present, sweet smiles, villages lost in time, caves and waterfalls, rivers and lakes, beech and oak forests …. Life. The warm hug of my friend Gontzal arriving to his rural Hotel Ansotegi: “Welcome walkers, w ..read more

The impulses and motivations that travelers find to visit us are diverse. Recently, after a request from the Basque Tourism Agency (BasqueTour), we have put together a 5-day tour for a couple of German journalists, through the most diverse corners of our geography, with a marked naturalist approach. Jörg and Isabella had the objective of delving into our reality and then making reports on what was discovered and transmitting in their countries of origin the emotion of their trip linked to the strength of our culture. From the oceanic coast to the Rioja Alavesa wine region, passing through my ..read more

We have just gone a step forward guiding a group of blind people in the snow. Along two days, with a hard weather forecast, we had the chance to live a beautiful experience in nature around Larra-Belagua nordic ski area in the Navarre Pyrenees. Participants changed the company of a comfortable chimney for a snowshoeing route. This was for them the first time in wearing snowshoes, and walking completely alone. The freedom they have experienced and the way they have achieved this new adventure, has reinforced in Basquelands Way´s guides the idea that our limits are much further than what we ..read more
