As Summer got on away, the community gathered in the garden for 3 fantastic garden party events. First up, on Thursday 27th June, we saw the musicians from Oblique Arts group, which runs at The EDGE Café in Cambridge, play a catalogue of their own songs under the sunshine in the sky, with food truck – Guerrilla Kitchen, serving their tasty bao buns all evening. Next came a special evening of food. Thursday 4th July, saw the return of Azahar with their scrumptious paella, all freshly cooked on site. Despite the wind, which at first was a concern, we were able to help them get setup in front o ..read more

Astra Zeneca volunteers headed by Volunteers at work and Diego again made a positive difference to the Garden and Hobson Park allotments last week. Contractors having been preparing the base for the community picnic table behind the garden building. We hope the table will be in place by the summer. Volunteers have been hard at work; weeding,  laying mulch on the beds and continuing  to harvest veg for the local food hub. Preparations are being made for the new growing season on the vegetable plot:  planting seedlings, moving the A-frame support for runner beans, installing two new hand crafted gates along with a new “toe”  path along the inner edge to ease access to the plot for gardeners. The pond has now filled with ..read more

A very special Thursday Garden party took place on December 14th. From toasting marshmallows around the firepit, to tucking into a Christmas roast (served by Rotisseroll), enjoying a cup of special homemade mulled wine and tasty treats or Emma’s (Beanissimo)steaming hot chocolate, everyone had a treat they could enjoy. The choir of St Mary & St Michael, led by Mandy the vicar, sang carols to put us in the Christmas mood. Why not pop along to their Christmas Tree celebrations this weekend (16-17 December) with free craft events for children. Photographer Gabriella Fuzi (gabriellafuzi.com ..read more
