Hi All, I’m in the process of swapping a 5.3/4l60e into a 92 S10. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information regarding whether or not the stock 4.3 pump that came with the car will work. I’ve read many people swapping the 2.2 pump or an aftermarket unit. But there also seems to be several people stating they run the stock 4.3 without issue. Ok so with no concern for emissions, and a moderate concern for budget, what would u guys build for a torque monster ls? A 4.8 turbo, a beefed up na 6.2, or just a 5.3 with a cam? Also, trans? 4l60 or 4l80? It’s going in a obs extra cab long bed Chevy truck that will tow motorcycles occasionally or a small 7x14 foot enclosed trailer with motorcycles in it. 20-25 Mpg would be nice but I digress. I am putting a 5.3L (L59) from a 03 GMC Yukon drive by wire with the summit racing Pistons Chevy performance head gaskets and 243 heads Mill down to 62 CC my compression will be 10.6.1 CR. Should work well with the 2004 LS6 Corvette camshaft I'm going to be using. And a 2006 4L60E C/N 6CPD C-Police Truck transmission from a retired NYPD fleet Chevrolet Tahoe. I cant seem to decide on a cam for my 5.3 LS swap. I had my mind set on the BTR Truck Norris cam. Specs: 212/22X, .552/.552, 107 LSA. Then I started looking at the summit racing pro ls SUM-8708R1. Has anyone in Portland, Oregon or Multnomah county with an LSx in their S10 passed the emisisons test? If so how did you do it? My understanding is that you can only use an engine that was available in your vehicle at the time it was manufactured. My truck is a 1989. I put a 2010 Camaro water pump on my truck engine so the radiator hose is on the drivers side. The truck belt tensioner does not work with the new water pump. Any suggestions? Also the thermostat housing from the truck water pump does not fit. The bolt holes are not wide enough. The Camaro thermostat is also bigger in diameter. I cannot find a Camaro thermostat housing that does not cost a fortune. Thanks for any help ..read more

Would anyone be willing to help me with some of the initial wiring needed for basic functions for a 5.3 with standalone harness? Im not much farther than just connecting the plugs from the harness to the engine and am starting to understand why people dislike wiring.
