In my opinion, images are the best way to show impact. So, without further ado, here are the before and after pictures of our #SCIDElevatedinEvanston project. Updating the entry with new flooring, a new light fixture, an exterior door and a new bench did wonders for this dark space and really impacts the feeling of this home upon entry. The changes carried into the laundry off the garage entry, where new tile flooring was installed (not shown) as well new plumbing fixtures, a mirror and lighting in the small powder room. Flooring and paint made a huge difference in this space, but ..read more

When we book our first phone call, there are a lot of things to talk about. After I’ve asked you a list of questions and visa versa, I will explain our process and what happens next. There is a lot to cover at the beginning of a project and it helps us fully understand what you are hoping to achieve and helps you gain an understanding of our process and how we work. Evanston - Before and After

This North West Calgary home is the perfect size for this professional couple and their two dogs, but it needed an update! As you can see from the before photos, it was dull, drab and dated! Out with the espresso floors and cabinets, bye bye to the glass backsplash and sparkly counters, and hello to a bright, cheery, timeless space that they’ll enjoy for years. Let’s started with the client’s wish list …     We initially create a preliminary design concept, and once this is approved by the client we are on our way into Design Development. Keep in mind this concept below is an abr ..read more

Lighting is one element of Interior Design that is often overlooked. When you walk into a room, unless it is a large statement light, you often notice the other exciting, eye-catching elements in the space. That is why we occasionally see hesitation in allocating a healthy budget to lighting! However, lighting makes a huge impact! Lighting can affect your mood, your energy, and even how you perceive the size of the space. It is our job as designers to expertly place lighting to add dimension to your space and help bring your project to life! Ever notice the cool, bright, fluorescent lighting ..read more

TWENTY years! How is that even possible? Twenty years ago I decided to work for myself, not go back to my job at an architecture firm and decide if I really wanted to stay working as an Interior Designer. You see, I was mainly designing large office spaces… and I wasn’t loving it. I thought that I didn’t love interior design and that I needed to figure out another career path. But then my mom and dad hired me to help them with the renovation of their home and I.FELL.IN.LOVE with residential design! After that, a number of referrals led me to more residential design projects and I never looked ..read more

A brand new year is always cause for reflection. We review the past year in business, our wins and losses, discuss what we did well and what we could improve on. Our goal is always to serve our clients better, improve their experience with us and be better than we were before. I was going to post about both the good and the not so good of 2022 but I saw a post about listing things you were grateful for from the past year and that resonated with me far more for our Year in Review. One of the things I know all of us at Team SCID are grateful for is the most obvious one… our Clients! You can thin ..read more
