A much-changed Ireland U19’s squad, will line out in the second match of the series against their Japanese counterparts as the coaching group seek to expose a large group of players to the rigours of underage international rugby. An entirely new backline will start the game with only Sean Naughton having featured off the bench in Wednesday’s fixture between the two sides. Eight Leinster players have been named by Ireland Head Coach Greg McWilliams in his Match Day squad for Saturday’s opening TikTok Women’s Six Nations clash against Wales in Cardiff (Kick-off 2.15pm, live on RTÉ2). The Bank of Ireland Leinster Women’s Division 5 Cup starts at the semi-final stage on Sunday. Ashbourne v Tallaght, Archerstown Road, KO: 1pm. The last women’s team in Ashbourne disbanded over 15 years ago, a push finally coming in 2020 for a women’s side to return to the club. In 2021, CCRO Graham Brennan put the building blocks in place and, in the summer of 2022, Judy Bobbett, Mahon, Matt Gardiner and Orla Hayes set out to get this group of girls ready for their first season with the black and amber. The business end of the Leinster Leagues is upon us now. Already one of the five divisions has concluded while the other four officially finish up on the 26 March. Some of these are already decided but is has been a great season in the leagues! The premier division is Leinster League Division 1A and for the second season running, Bective were presented with the trophy on Saturday in Gorey RFC. Leinster Rugby and Syracuse University have this afternoon announced a wide-ranging partnership allowing both organisations to utilise the on and off-field expertise of the other. Founded in 1870, Syracuse University is based in New York and has 45 sports clubs, including rugby union and this is the first such partnership for their rugby programme. The 2023 Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Summer Camps have officially launched, with 29 camps to choose from around the 12 counties. The summer camps are open to girls and boys aged six to 12 and all of the camps are run by fully accredited IRFU coaches. Each camp runs from Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 1pm.
