It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of our very finest! Terry Mulholland, aka. 'the Godfather,' was a guiding figure for the Wave from 2006-2011 as the Team Manager. During this time the Wave won the Division 2 championship in 2008 & 2009, then went on to make the big move into Division 1 in 2010. The Godfather absolutely loved the Wave and was always sideline whenever we played rain, hail or shine. One of life's genuine blokes, always had a smile on his face and time for a chat! End of season wrap up: Update from the President Whilst the weather has done its very best to dampen our spirits, rugby has been the shining light to bring plenty of smiles back to our community. Club Day was a huge success for both Junior and Senior clubs and a huge thank you to everyone who was involved. Then Ladies Day, where we 'lit up the Laz' pink. The bar poured pink refreshments, thanks to Aaron from the Village Inn. The Premier Wave team donned club NZ Cancer Charity Jerseys, that then sold raised over $3000 at auction. Sumner Rugby would like to thank Jake Mangin for his two years with us at Sumner Rugby. Jake came to the club when the premiers were languishing near the foot of the table, the premier reserves were struggling to field a team and regularly defaulting and quickly starting turning things around. As he leaves us, our Premier Wave reached their second plate final in two years and our Premier Reserves reached a Plate Semi Final for the first time in many many years. Gareth D'almeida has been appointed as the new head coach for div 1, The Wave. Gareth has a long history with the club, having played for 16 years and clocked up 100 games for the seniors.
