Learning how to invest through a portfolio simulator
The Female Investors Project
by Genevieve Hourigan

Spoiler alert.. I don't think its a good idea.  So, backstory, I had a couple people ask about portfolio simulators and whether they are a good way to learn about investing and prepare to actually start investing.. and my answer is always that the best way to learn about investing is doing it. Especially when your f ..read more

Whether you're new to investing or just sick of only men talking about investing - this podcast is for you.  I love talking about all things money, but there is a special place in my heart for investing. Women are the minority of investors in Australia (and globally), and I believe it's time to change this.  Every second week I will be talking about all things investing and breaking down the hard stuff so you can sit back, learn something, and then apply what is discussed by doing your own research then investing! If you want more, there are already a bunch of episodes ready for you ..read more

How is a company managed? Executives and the Board of Directors
The Female Investors Project
by Genevieve Hourigan
8M ago
As you trail through a company's details, there is often a lot of focus on management, and rightly so because they are in charge of a company! Right? But who actually is management? The management structure has your executives on one end, and the Board of Directors on the other, that kind of work as a supervisory body to keep executives in check and often can provide some additional expertise and a point of view that management doesn't have.  In this episode I take you through management in a bit me detail and give you an overview of how ASX companies are managed, based on my research and ..read more

15. What is your circle of competence?
The Female Investors Project
by Genevieve Hourigan
8M ago
As a beginner, it can be hard to know where to start when it comes to picking an investment. I get ETFs, but there are hundreds!!! Looking into your circle of competence may be your opportunity to narrow down on your options and understand how you can reduce the risk of being wrong by sticking to an area you know well.  This doesn't mean you can't take on more risk and explore things outside this area of expertise, whether its an industry or an asset class, but your circle of competence is a good place to keep your money safe.  ..read more
