Marvin G. Parnes, 74, died at home on March 13, 2024 after a prolonged illness. Born on June 3, 1949 to Leon and Susan Parnes in the Bronx, NY. Along with brothers Robert and Joseph, Marvin grew up in the thriving and diverse community along the Bronx’s Grand Concourse, not far from Yankee Stadium. He attended PS 90 George Meany Elementary School, Jordan Mott Junior High School, and was a scholarship student at the Fieldston Ethical Culture School in Riverdale, NY (class of 1966). Abbud, “Bud,” beloved father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully into eternal life the morning of April 13, 2024, at the age of 88, after a gradual decline in his health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family this past month.
Bud was born in Qamishli, Syria on November 8, 1935 to parents Ayyub Bis- hara and Menoush Aro. Bud was raised in a large, loving household with seven siblings in Aleppo, Syria. Summers and harvest time were often spent at their second home in Qamishli.

Jay died peacefully at home on March 1. His friends and family will hold a memorial celebration of his life on Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m. in Pioneer High School’s Schreiber Auditorium, Ann Arbor.

Jay had an extraordinary gift—he was able to positively impact the lives of so many people over decades. At this celebration, a number of them will share something they learned from knowing Jay—a lesson they’ve used to enrich their own lives, or those of others.
