Any recommendations for a hotel room near LKF/Soho. Will be arriving on 6pm on a Saturday night and out mid morning Sunday. Only requirements are something private, clean, decent AC/hot water and walking distance to the LKF/Soho action. Trying to not spend that much money as I will barely be in the room. I see so many hotels that could work but wanted to see about any recommendations on FT. Looking to keep it at $100 US max. Thanks ..read more

Hi, We (wife and I) will arrive in HK at 19:30 on 20.11.24 and leave at 00:40 on 22.11.24, it's a stopover after 3.5 weeks in Japan We are flying to Zurich with Cathay, only Premium Economy so no free lounge access. We have visited Hong Kong quite a few times but are unsure what to do in terms of accommodation, especially with (from what I gather) the huge works going on in HKG Options: Get a Hotel for 1st night only, leave luggage in hotel for the date after check-out, use a paid lounge in airport to shower and relax before flight Get hotel for 1 night and pay extra for a very late check-out ..read more

Smaller HKIA Transit Points: Do They Ever Open (Esp near Pier?)

Although I'm based in HK, I admit to frequent trips to China and Singapore and sometimes find myself transiting HKIA, almost always on CX. I don't know if it's fate or what, but on 3-4 different sets of transits at HKIA lately including one midday today, I find myself arriving at the 60s and departing from the 60s. Transit point D1 (I think I have that right? If my naming is wrong, I'm talking about the smaller transit point near gates 62/63) has been closed for ages, at least every time I try to use it. It's obviously quite convenient for CX members particularly Diamonds, because it pops you ..read more

Uber at HKG arrival

Sorry if this is somewhat OT but what on earth is going on with Uber at HKG arrivals? I always select Car Park 1 pickup. On my arrival 4 days ago, the driver met me ON FOOT and said we had to walk outside the car park to the lot nearer the terminal building. Arrived again today and the driver calls and insists that he cannot enter Car Park 1 and I need to meet him at the opposite end car park. Was not friendly at all and told me to cancel if I didn’t like it… Next driver was perfectly fine, but anyone know what’s going on ..read more

We have an afternoon flight with Cathay from HKG, I assume that we can check our bags in at the airport first thing in the morning (we will be staying locally) ? We will also want to store our hand luggage and plan to use the Baggage Storage facility at the airport, assume this is open 24 hours a day ..read more

Hello FT I have a 20 hour layover in HK in July and was looking for advice to cram in as much as possible. We land approx. 10pm local time and fly out 6pm the next day. As it's a layover im hoping Cathay Pacific will keep our luggage. I was thinking of visiting temple street night market and Victoria Peak the next day. Mostly interested in food, drink and viewpoints/impressive landmarks so if there’s any bars with good views that may work well. We’ve booked a hotel in Kowloon as we thought that would be the best base but can cancel it if anyone has another suggestion as realistically we’l ..read more

Airport Hotel Recommendation?

We have an overnight stop in Hong Kong in March, we arrive in HK at 9.35am in the morning and depart at 4.20pm the following day. We have been to HK several times. My current thoughts are to stay at an airport hotel, leave our bags on arrival and take the train into Hong Kong and spend the day there. Following day take the cable car to Ngong Ping Village (first visit for my wife) then head to the airport for our flight. Any recommendations for an airport hotel, preferably one that is easy to access for both the airport terminal and metro. Thanks ..read more

Side Trip from HKG - At Start or End of Holiday

I picked up a reasonable fare to HKG in September and have 18 days between arriving and departing. Currently I am thinking of spending the first 8 days in HKG (have a hotel booking on points) and then taking a side trip - not sure where to - I've been to Japan and Singapore before, and like both. Current plan would be to return to HKG a day or so before I was due to fly home. Would I be better doing the side trip at the beginning of the trip, spending maybe 48hrs in HKG on arrival, doing the side trip and then returning to HKG for the last 8 days of the holiday? Any recommendations for places ..read more
