Tomba! was first released on the PS1 back in 1997 and was developed by Whoopee Camp. At the time, the game received critical acclaim, praising its 2.5D mechanics and non-linear side-scrolling gameplay, which made it stand out from most platformers. Sadly, the game underperformed commercially. However, the game is considered a ‘cult classic’ and a hidden gem for the PS1. Despite the disappointing sales, demand was enough for Whoopee Camp to release a sequel two years later. Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return came out in 1999 and was again well-received by critics, albeit not quite as m ..read more

We can all point and joke about the laughing stock that was Duke Nukem: Forever. The game was in development for close to 15 years, and when it was released, it was deemed one of the worst video games ever made. After such a long development cycle, the team and fans must have experienced a new meaning to the word disappointment. However, another game has been in the works longer than Duke Nukem: Forever and Beyond Good & Evil 2. The game is called Kien. It is now available on the Incube8 Games website. The only caveat is that it is available for the Game Boy Advance! Something more ..read more

Resident Evil 7 Director Returning for RE9

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is one of the most significant games from the previous generation. Not only was it a fantastic horror game, but it also resurrected one of the all-time greatest gaming franchises. Since the release of Resident Evil 4, which many consider the best in the series, the mainline games have not reached the same level. Resident Evil 5 was decent enough but felt more like a lacklustre relative of RE4. Resident Evil 6 was one of the most bloated games of the previous decade and appeared to kill off the franchise. However, this was not the case at all.  ..read more

Over the past decade, video game remakes and remasters have become a staple in the gaming industry. In theory, the concept is fantastic. A game that was beloved when it was released, can now be appreciated again by long-time fans and new gamers. Everything from Resident Evil 2, Crash Bandicoot, and Demon’s Souls to Shadow of the Colossus, Spyro, and Final Fantasy VII have all garnered the honour of either being remade or remastered.  Then again, there will always be classic games that do not quite make it to the treatment. The idea of remakes and remasters turned on a light bul ..read more

DISCLAIMER: This is only a rumour, for now. Nothing has been confirmed by Sony. The gaming community has received another leak, courtesy of Nick Baker, co-founder of XboxEra. The leak suggests that Sony is secretly working on bringing PS3 games to PS5 via backwards compatibility. The leak does not detail what games will be included, but (if the rumours are true) it would most likely be Sony exclusives released for the PS3. Baker states that “select” PS3 games will be coming to PS5. Over the past few years, Sony has been paying attention to their legacy of titles and bringing them back for ..read more

If I were to mention the name Beyond Good & Evil, chances are, the reactions amongst people may be polarising. They might recall playing the original game on PS2, Xbox, GameCube, or PC. Some people may not have heard of the franchise before, shaking their heads obliviously having no idea what the game is. In my experience, the reaction I have come to know best is one of confusion and perhaps a morsel of sadness. Why is this? The answer is because of the state the franchise has been in since the original game. The tale of Beyond Good & Evil and its unreleased sequel stretches mu ..read more
