In 2019, Dr. Adamson received a three-year Dermatology Foundation Career Development Award for his study, “Optimizing Care Delivery and Health Equity in Patients with Melanoma.”

Dr. Scharschmidt has received multiple DF research awards including a Research Fellowship in 2012 for “Commensal Skin Bacteria – Our First Line of Defense”; a three-year Career Development Award in 2013 For “Identifying Key Genetic Determinants of Staphylococcus Aureus Skin Colonization” and the inaugural Sun Pharma Research Award in 2021 for a three-year study in “Contributions of Early Life Bacterial-barrier-immune Interactions in the Path to Atopy.”

Dr. Ginette Okoye is Professor and Chair of Dermatology at Howard University College of Medicine. Her areas of clinical and research expertise are in cutaneous disorders that disproportionately affect people with pigmented skin, including scarring alopecia, hidradenitis suppurativa, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and cutaneous sarcoidosis, as well as health disparities in dermatology. Dr. Okoye earned her Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and completed her dermatology training at Yale University, where she also served as Chief Resident.

At this year’s Annual Meeting of Membership, we will recognize 4 distinguished individuals who have been nominated by their colleagues for their outstanding contributions to dermatology. Each recipient’s achievements will be presented by a peer during the event to be held on March 18th in New Orleans, on the margins of the AAD meeting. These award presentations will be a focal point of the meeting.
