Farms throughout cities in Liberty County received $637,806 more in subsidies in 2021 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture compared to the year before. In 2021, 43 farmers in cities within Liberty County received a total of $1.6 million in 47 farm subsidies, a 66.8% increase from 2020, when the total was $954,681 in 55 farm subsidies. TFD Responds to Two Structure Fires, Helps Two People and a Dog to Safety

On February 18, at 8:48 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a structure fire located in the 800 block of Arkansas Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire coming from a multi-residential structure. TFD personnel made entry into the structure to extinguish the fire and search for any possible occupants. TFD crews were able to assist two people and one dog out of the structure to safety. There were no injuries reported on scene. The cause of the fire appears to have been from unattended cooking. On February 22, at 9:40 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to a structure fire located on F A Ash Way. Upon arrival, TFD crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from a single-story residence. TFD personnel began attacking the fire and searching for any possible occupants inside the structure. Once inside, TFD crews found heavy fire that had spread throughout the attic. The search determined that there were no people inside at the time of the fire, but one dog did pass away.
