You need to be comfortable on your wedding day! As a bride myself, my biggest priority was having good shoes, so my feet weren’t hurting… (and making me cry inside at my own wedding!).   Blisters are not fun. Period! If you’re like me, you wanna be able to party, and dance, and be on your feet all night, and stay upright, and keep going until that last guest goes home!   The solution: Comfy shoes! Get yourself a good quality, comfortable pair of shoes for the wedding day. Many brides have a fabulous pair of heels during the day, and then switch to a pair of flats (like Conver ..read more

Every wedding is a special unique snowflake!!  It’s true. …BUT if you’ve never seen anyone get hitched in Perth before, there's a very basic anatomy to a wedding that’ll give you a starting point for what to expect. There are exceptions to this rule, obviously, but essentially it's a series of events throughout the day ... and then drunken dancing (one of the best bits, am I right!?) What you can expect at a more traditional and common P ..read more

This is The Trending Colour for 2021 Weddings!

The 2021 Colour of the year was one of the most exciting announcements EVERRR. Yellow is my absolute favourite colour, so when Pantone revealed the happy vibrant shade as one of the 2 tones for 2021, I legit did a happy dance around my living room. Yellow is the essence of optimism, joy, creativity and sunshine.   Alongside the bright and optimistic yellow (called ‘Illuminating’), the other half of the colour combo is ‘Ultimate Grey’ (which the internet quickly nicknamed ‘Pandemic Grey’).   This colour duo is reflective of the insulation of 2020, through the Covid lockdowns ..read more

Having a Receiving Line at Your Wedding; Is it Really Worth the Hype?
Wedding Warriors Blog
by Megan Ralston

Kevin McGinn Photography   A “receiving line” is where you receive your guests, and they can give you their congratulations and hugs after the ceremony.   It’s not an essential part of a wedding day, but obviously all the guests wanna come and give you their best wishes, so it’s something that a lot of people include in their wedding day schedule. Guests also really appreciate having a designated time to congratulate you.   Personally, I never liked the idea of having a receiving line. In all my years working Perth weddings, I thought they were a bit chaotic … and they wasted ..read more

Wedding Warriors Blog
by Megan Ralston

Rose and Rhyme Studio Photography   You’ll probably have to make some decisions early in the planning process, like choosing your ceremony time.   It might seem simple at first, like you’re choosing a time that sounds nice … or saying “I think 3pm is great, because all the weddings I’ve been to have started around then”. BUT there’s actually a series of questions I’ve put together which can help you make a more informed decision. Instead of going in blind and making a random choice (that’ll actually affect everything from your meal time to the photo quality), it becomes a really s ..read more

Kevin McGinn Photography   QUESTION: What the fuck is a First Look anyway? ANSWER: A First Look is when a couple see each other before their wedding ceremony (before the guests see them). If you DON’T have a First Look … If you don’t have a First Look, then the first time you see each other will be at the wedding ceremony, when one of you comes floating down the aisle, and you lock eyes. Your partner sees you for the first time in your gorgeous outfit. It’s a very classic, traditional, kinda Disney-ish moment That’s also the first time your guests see you; they all turn and watch you ent ..read more

Are you party people? Do you want a high-energy vibe at your reception? Or would you prefer a low-key, quiet event?   I’m guessing that, like me, you want that D Floor ROCKING as much as possible throughout your reception. You want EVERYONE to dance until their feet fall off, right?   Well, music is one of the major ways you can lift the energy of the room, and encourage some crazy, debaucherous, upbeat dance moves (even from grandma!)     The kind of music you play during the reception will basically lead the overall vibe of the event and get people into the ..read more
