A percussion conversion. More of a work of art back then. Look at the tail on that breech plug! Plenty of rust. Had trouble getting the trigger guard off until I realized the trigger is held in with a very thin metal rod through the stock. The lock will be soaked with Kroil for awhile before I attempt to take it apart ..read more

I have an old Baker-Standard box lock double barrel. Looking for the left sear, or rear trigger / left barrel sear. However you want to name it lol. I've searched to the end of the 'ol interwebs with no results. I'll add a pic shortly to see if anyone recognizes a familiar part that may work, or a gunsmith that may be able to fabricate one. My local guy says no can do ..read more

This is an article on how to repair a worn bolt guide pin on a Savage Mk II action.
It is in JPEG form for easy right-click-save-as downloading. If it doesn't show up properly here, please go to https://smith-sights.com/savage-bolt-guide-pin.php . I'm not sure how much hotlinking and hosting my website will tolerate, and it's not sized properly anymore by Photobucket or by attaching it here...

I have a S$W 60-15 pro series. The only thing is the front sight is dead. Any chance you know where I could get a replacement, original or aftermarket? I've called S&W and the sight maker, but either had a replacement. The only ones I've found are not drilled for the pin. Know of anyone who could install a new sight?
Thanks ..read more

This is the rifle of that era that I have that is in the worst shape. Pics below.
1. The lock is missing. I found a Tower 1862 original lock that’s ’in the mail’.
2. In the empty lock picture the crack in the stock will have to be dealt with.
3. I think someone put the barrel in a steel vice to try and remove the percussion nipple scarring the barrel and hosing up the nipple. The nipple removal will be the most difficult to deal with. The marks on the barrel might get knocked down a...

I have an old rolling block rifle that is hard to find brass for. I believe it's Danish / 11.7 x 56r... I can make brass but it would be cheaper and easier to just use 45-70 brass. Is there someone who can reline just the chamber, and not the whole barrel? Any ideas are appreciated ..read more
