Could anybody give me the rundown on shipping to a FFL/Gunsmith out of state? I aim to ship through USPS, but they've been super unhelpful with the process so far. I had to argue with them that whereas I don't know much, I knew I could ship to an FFL without being an FFL myself. I know for the sake of time I want to ship it Priority Express mail overnight, but I'm just asking if somebody can explain what detailed steps I need to do. Please and thank you.

Hey guys! Great to be here.
I'm struggling to install a Carver Custom 3-port compensator on my Smith & Wesson M&P 45 2.0 (5.1") with stock threaded barrel.
I also have a noncaptured guide rod and 17lb recoil spring as recommended for the compensator.
I follow the directions with the comp and have watched videos. However, when I install the compensator, the slide won't go anywhere close to being able to lock. The only solution to this is backing off the compensator until there's what I assume is much too large of a gap between the comp and slide because that's not how it should loo ..read more

Hey all, recently traded into a remington 600 rifle. When I traded for it, it had a scope on it and the iron sights had been taken off at some point. I recently bought a new rear sight and found that the base to screw it into just spun freely. Apparently there is a small nut that hides under the vent rib to screw into the sight. Numrich does not have the nut in stock (https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/76230B )and I don’t see it being something that will come back into stock any time soon. Would the best move just be to take the screw for the sight into a hardware store and find something ..read more

what kinda knowledge would it take to build a bigass bolt-action .50 cal?
if I could i'd just fucken buy a hecate II, but I've always been interested in gunsmithing, and just out of sheer curiosity thought i'd ask this sub what they thought it'd take to build a rifle firing 12.7mm by 99 and in the general shape/aesthetic of the hecate II.

I got this MG3 parts kit that is in .308 that is Rheinmetall. I've been doing my homework on it but one thing I couldn't find was whether it would be better to reweld the receiver and add blocking bars to make it semi auto, or to start from scratch with an 80% receiver.

I have a bolt that I’m going to polish to a shine but I’m worried about it rusting. Is there any clear coat I can put on the bare steel or anything along those lines that will keep it shiny and not rust?
