I have a 1990 Mossberg 500 shotgun with a factory wood stock that is somewhat glossy. I have a Sako rifle on the way with a pretty glossy stock. What is the best method of keeping these stocks beautified, clean and well-preserved? Special waxes for gun stocks? Special oils for gun stocks? Old English furniture polish? Repairing a Browning high-gloss stock

Is there a way to touch up minor dings on a Browning high gloss stock? I bought a Gold Medallion X-bolt because it was so darned purdy and, of course, soon had a couple of very minor dings on it from the range. They stand out and I'd like to repair if at all possible but I am NOT going to strip a perfectly good stock to do it. It looks to me almost like automotive clear coat was used? Or some type of lacquer maybe? Can I touch it up? Anybody done this with good results ..read more

My wife got me a Ruger American in 308 this past Valentines Day and I put a Bushnell scope on it, set it and it is a tack driver. Now deer season in on here in Kentucky and we have a cold one going on, daily temps in 30's mostly to low 40's, mornings in upper teens to low 20's. I came in today from hunting and my gun soon had water all over it, I kept wiping and wiping with a dry cloth till it was dry. I then wiped it back down with oil and ran a oil patch down the bore. Now for my... Question on condensation ..read more

Hungarian Femaru 37M, another adventure. "The Femaru 37M is a development of Rudolf Frommer’s earlier pistol designs made by Fémáru, Fegyver és Gépgyár (FEG). It entered service with the Hungarian Army in 1937, a year after Frommer’s death." So I have a Hungarian, 1943, Model 37M, .380 ACP,. Same pistol the German Luftwaffe used in WWII, except for the 7.65 caliber, Hungry was aligned with Germany and produced firearms for the Germany Luftwaffe... Femaru 37M ..read more

So, I have this German pistol in a 7.65 mm, and I have been cleaning, servicing, repairing, and locating lost pieces. Success today on several levels of getting the pistol functioning again. One thing I really like to see on these German pistols is the craftsmanship that is awesome. The cartouche stamps are awesome. The slide is really a work of art, fit and finish. [ATTACH... I have a 1971 era Remington 552, in its abused past it'd been dry fired to the point it could chamber a cartridge and it wouldnt fire reliably(81%). A slight adujustment to headspace has it functioning reliably now. The problem is its not very accurate. I think further adjustment of the headspace wont change its accuracy issues. It needs the chamber set fwd about .003" to .005" and check accuracy after headspace is readjusted. Most the chamber reamers I... Method to clean up a out of spec .22 LR chamber ..read more

I'm working on a 450 Bushmaster, with a M4 buffer. I have checked everything out and it didn't cycle bolt 100%. Everything worked slicks than snot except for that issue. I had a customer come in on another job and mentioned that I add weight to the buffer. Well, I put a couple of washers inside and now it works 100%. He had the same issue with his firearm ..read more

I picked this one up almost 2 years ears ago at a local gunshop. It had too much going for it for me to pass up except for whatever reason the stock was worn and glossy. I also found out it had 3 costs of paint of different colors on the stock. I also removed the matte bluing and Parkerized most of the metal. Before: After ..read more
