I recently acquired a Springfield Armory 1911 A1 Government at a gun show. I don't know it provenance. I cleaned it before taking it to the range and found what looked a bit like corrosion on the frame's slide rail. Is this actually corrosion or just happy-hour millwork? The piece shoots fine. Should I try to buff it down or take it to a gunsmith ..read more

This one has been in the shadows a bit. I picked up a Tisas A1 Service model a while back, used, from a co-worker, for cheap. Some may remember I had a thread about it. The slide/frame fit has been tightened nicely, nothing crazy. Trigger work using the stock sear and hammer. Fitted EGW bushing. Small radius EGW fps and 14lb recoil spring to match the tuned extractor. Hand checkered front strap 25lpi. Checkered msh leftover from some other pistol. Added a beavertail using a Rock Island new...

After finally figuring out how to get a perfect glass rod break on my trigger jobs, I decided to make a video to share with others who share my trait of not being so bright.
Feel free to poke and laugh, as you wish, particularly at the videography. Who knew using a piece of video editing software wouldn't be intuitive ..read more

I have a trigger issue with my 9mm 1911 from R.I.A. never been fired. After pulling trigger everything works great but if you keep pulling the trigger it starts clicking and gets mushy? Any ideas? Tried posting a video but it won't work?
I have taken the pistol down and found the sear block "clicking" over the disconnector when trigger is pulled firmly ..read more

Pistol is a new Fusion Freedom Combat 10mm with fixed sights. The pistol shot 3" high and 3" left. I replaced the mil spec front sight with a XS tritium sight and that corrected the height error.
I moved the front sight to the left and the rear sight to the right and managed to get the pistol to shoot to POA. Is there an adjustment I can make to the barrel so I don't have to have the sights so far off center?
It will shoot into one hole at 7 yds. when I do my part. I just don't like the...

I recently got a CMP range grade that has a king-tappan rear sight. The slide has the SN labled with a dymo label. For the sake of preservation I’m building up another slide. I was able to locate the rear king-tappan combat sight (101). Any idea what front sight height I would use and whom might make one? Kinda want to go with tritium or a white dot. But will got solid if needed, or find someone who can do a gold bead. My other option is a Novak DCP 03, but again struggling with the...
