1911 Barrel Link (maybe) Question

I've got a compact 1911 that's doing something funny. Completely assembled, slowly closing the slide, it sort of "sticks" a little bit when it's about 1/8" from being completely in battery. I haven't ever had a problem with it, but somebody else was shooting it, probably limp-wristing it, and it wouldn't go fully back into battery - tap the slide, and it was good to go. That just kind of bothered me. I started messing around with it - pulled the recoil spring out and felt the same... Read more ..read more

I may have a loose screw or two… but I cannot get this trigger adjustment screw loose (to adjust) on my Savage Stevens model 334 .308 bolt action. It’s factory glued (or something) in place any ideas? I’ve been trying heat and acetone, and other chemicals that may break it free from the epoxy (or whatever) they used at the factory I have very good screwdrivers that fit (even hollow ground types) but the head won‘t last forever here’s a picture (not me) of the screw I’m working on …. And... Read more ..read more

I have a 6.5 Grendel AR barrel that has an un-even throat. I did a cerrosafe cast of the chamber, and 2 or 3 of the lands seem to stop about 1/8" in front of the chamber neck, and a couple of the lands come back almost to the end of the neck. I can chamber loads that have the bullets seated back into the case a little farther than "normal', and they cycle ok, but if I seat them just a touch further out, they chamber, but the bullet is engaging the rifling enough to make it impossible to... Looking for a smith with a good reputation working with rifles, to rebarrel a Kimber 84M. Currently have a factory barreled action with an 0.470 bolt face and a Lilja blank. Need the blank threaded for the action and the thing chambered to 6 Creed min headspace. Finishing a plus but not a deal breaker as I will likely paint it at some point. I'm DFW area and would prefer someone local, but will ship if needed. Thanks ..read more
