I have a savage no4 mk1* Enfield that appears to have a bullet jacket stuck about an inch into the lead, are there any recommendations on how to get it out? I tried a metal rod about bore diameter to tap it out and it won't budge. Hanging it on the wall and re-barreling are not really an option. Gotta be an old trick somewhere, any help is appreciated ..read more

Closer inspection of the Remington Lee discloses a broken extractor. The tip and hook are broken off. Does anyone have a one for an 1885 Navy model they are willing to part with?
Failing that, it may be worth attempting a weld repair and re-hardening the piece. Any advice from anyone who has done it would be greatly appreciated. Pictures are of the broken extractor, its failure to engage the rim of .45-70 brass. Last is a picture of an unbroken one with the missing bit highlighted in red.

I need to swap the foresight block from the scrap M1886 Mannlicher barrel on the right to the nearly complete rifle on the left. I have tried giving it a good blast with a blowtorch and then hitting it from the side with a large pin punch, but move it would not. Is it likely to have been brazed on and I don’t have a hot enough heat source? I could in theory try to cut the barrel out from under it, but that’s not an elegant solution.
Grateful for any suggestions or help.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi All,
Just curious to see what all is involved in changing a BAR from .30-06 to 7.62 x 51 NATO., as the ought six is getting scarce and expensive. Carts are similar except for length, unfortunately the ought 6 is 12 mm longer which would mean either a custom barrel or some black magic on an existing barrel. Aside from the barrel, any other concerns?

I've recently purchased a parts kit from Sarco to begin building a Swedish Lahti M40. Gun is in good condition and most parts look brand new with minor storage wear. It is mostly built save for torqueing on the barrel (pending appropriate wrench), front site blade, minor grip panel fitting, and.... the ejector...
I have looked high and low on numerous forums only to come up empty handed. If anyone knows a good way to install this blasted thing, then I would gladly tip my hat to you ..read more
