Polish chamber

Anybody have a DIY method of lightly polishing the chamber on a Savage model 99 300 savage? I have been trying hand loads and experiencing sticky extraction on loads of a 150 gr Hornady bullet with 40 gr of IMR 4064 which are giving velocities just about 2500 fps. This is a full 3 grains below max as shown in the Hornady manual. Examining the case seems to indicate a rough area in the chamber. This gun has a rather tight chamber. Fired unsized cases match up with the minimum surface on a... Polish chamber ..read more

Here's a few snaps of my current project, a VZ-24 sporter. I made the bridges, barrel band sling swivel stud, stock sling swivel stud, grip cap, scope rings, and the safety lever. I checkered the barrel band sight ramp and the bolt knob as well. I'll post more as I progress. This action will have a partial octagon barrel, chambered in .338/06 A-square, and it will sit in a fiddleback maple stock of classic form, dyed to an English red and finished in both tung and linseed oils. There... Muh Bubba ..read more

An American Side Snap. Shattuck went out of business around 1904 and were active in the late 1800’s. The Side Snap is a single barrel 12 gauge where the break open is a lever that is part of the trigger guard. All springs were broken, shot, or missing. I found a replacement hammer spring on EBay. The firing pin spring is a cut down spring from Harbor Freight and I will make the side snap spring. All of the screws were easily enough removable except the extractor screw so with the right... I’ve recently just been taking my old great great grandfathers gun apart, and it’s never been cleaned. So I did some digging before I got into cleaning it and of course I couldn’t find anything. Well I’ve got everything pieced back together besides the trigger assembly, I’m having problems with the spring for the hammer, how should I place it in, what goes under it, etc. I’d just like a little advice before continuing to reassemble. (Yes I know I should’ve... Sears & Roebuck Ted Williams .22 ..read more

I bought a PolyTech M14 (Chinese Clone) last year. I have been slowly dissasembling it to clean, strip, deparkerize, and blue it. I am finding some parts come apart differently than an American made M14. Does anyone know if they dissasemble differently than their American counterparts ..read more

I am looking for a left sear arm for a Stoeger Uplander side by side 12 gauge and cannot find the part anywhere, I can get a right sear arm but not a left. Any help is greatly appreciated. I also need a new magazine tube for a Tristar Raptor 12 gauge. Both parts I am not having any luck finding. I have emailed both companies but have heard nothing back. Thank you ..read more

Can anyone tell me the thread size and type in the barrel stud for this rifle? I recently acquired one and a previous owner replaced the fore arm screw with a sling stud which they cut too short. The fore arm is only being held by about two threads. Also I believe the sling stud is not exactly the proper thread. I would like to obtain a bottom tap and chase the threads on the barrel stud and replace it with the proper screw ..read more
