I promised Alex + Elisa they’d be getting a little or a lot soaked during their session. I didn’t tell them exactly where I’d be taking them but I did promise sand, some summer wind, and a nice view. We had the beachfront almost all to ourselves and took advantage of as much as we could. We’ve been in heatwave mode for the last two week, but it feels like forever when you’re in it, so the water sounded like the perfect place to unwind and make this happen. These are just a few frames from their Montreal engagement / adventure session. For anyone getting ready to be in front the camera my tips ..read more

It was such a pleasure to meet and spend some time with Frédérique & Fred recently for their Montreal engagement / adventure session. Like most adventure sessions of mine this is when I typically meet my couples in real life for the first time, and what can I say about these two? We walked in and through-out magical, beautiful, late evening light, and I love these images. I loved taking them across rocks, tall grass, the warm evening after-glow of sunset, and more :)
PS. If you’re wondering what’s the darker hand image, I brought some bubble wands to the beach for t ..read more

Montreal - Parc Jean Drapeau is an awesome place for a super intimate engagement portrait session with Dia + Nima. In advance of their upcoming wedding day we wanted to celebrate summer with beautiful light, running around and chilling on the Gilles Villeneuve race course, and the whole world was ours. The island has everything we love and needed for their adventure session, nature, space, direct sunlight, gardens, and allll those locations and space just for us. The moment was right, the couple was great, the vibes were good and cozy, and the photos show it. These guys have been engaged for a ..read more

Something new I’m very excited about this season is the introduction of my Adventure Session Films, which are short films I’ve been shooting with couples during their adventure sessions with me in addition to their still images. What are these? Adventure session films came about from talking with couples before they had booked me and very often I would speak with brides and hear them say they loved this cinema-like feel from my images. They loved how natural and beautiful my images looked, and it reminded them of movies they were drawn to. I loved hearing comments like that and it was h ..read more

Daniel and Eunhwan, what can I say, these two make a photographer happy. Eunhwan was so sweet the whole day and shoot, she stopped to talk with birds, and just a breeze to work with. Fuji xpro-2, shot mainly with black and white in-camera jpegs - which are such a joy to work with. Intimate weddings have this quiet slow pace to them, and sometimes friends join in, and the relaxed vibe totally flips and you can capture all this raw emotion and the beauty of it all.
The groom, Daniel, was super looking forward to this day as many couples have been since covid had derailed so many plans for engag ..read more

I totally love photographing families. I love setting up a family photo shoot where we can capture all the good stuff, the messy stuff, the crazy stuff, the stuff that makes for real family photography. These are special occasions where the kids and babies can do their business. My clients want an alternative type of family sessions not so much in studio, but photography done outside in the sun, summer or fall where the fun can be at it’s peak.
What happens during our session? What is family photography for me?
Kids are hilarious and I want to capture tons of fun images of your children durin ..read more

Typically, people think candid photography is an image where a photographer captures a photograph of people unaware of his/her presence, or without providing direction. My clients often say they love my wedding images because they look and feel like very “authentic moments”. As a portrait photographer this is a style of work I love and have had to develop my own methods and tricks to create the right environment for great looking images with timing and personality. However, I disagree with that concept as a rule, because most of the time my candid images are largely those of my own making. Som ..read more

As a photographer, I believe it’s really important to show different types of images, and talk about why I make the kinds of wedding images I do. Weddings are indeed super special occasions, and it’s amazing to share a day like that with the people that mean the most to you. I spend a lot of time throughout the day taking and making portraits of everyone aside from the bride and groom ~ moms, dads, uncles, friends. I want these to be great, classic looking, semi-formal, images that show the style and personality of the people as I see them. I know my clients love all these images because they ..read more

Editorial portrait shoot in Montreal’s Old Port
These are some images from a super sunny, early Fall portrait shoot I shot earlier this month. My client was super excited about the new path she’s on and what that means for her business. She called and we talked about what vibe she wanted in her images we I knew right away I could make her exactly what she needed. Typically on this journal I don’t show shoots that don’t fit within the Montreal Weddings, couples engagement and adventure session, and also the families I work with but on this blog, but I think there’s plenty of room to show the ..read more
