Capturing the Aurora Borealis in photographs is a dream of mine, and I always thought that I would have to travel somewhere other than my home town of Montreal, Quebec, Canada to see them. But on a weekend in May of 2024, the Northern Lights effectively came to me! A geomagnetic storm with strength not seen since 2003, sky effects were visible in places where typically they wouldn’t be. Lucky me! Based on where I am located west of the city, the effects we ..read more

back to journal    Rustic Mill in Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec Coteau-du-Lac is a small city about a 30 minute drive outside of Montreal, located by Lake Saint Francis. It’s a picturesque and sleepy little area, but the Mill is a great choice for those looking for a quiet but lovely and natural spot for their wedding. The Mill itself was built in the 18th century, and full of history. So if stone walls and lots of nooks and crannies is your thing, consider this wedding venue that’s close to Montreal. The Mill has been offered as a wedding venue since 1995, so they are quite organized when ..read more

back to journal    “The groom is like a flower of gold. When he walks, blossoms at his feet unfold”  ~Federico Garcia Lorca Can we celebrate and honour our wedding men? My Montreal grooms are special guys. They support their partners and dote on them, and they are an active part of the wedding planning. I absolutely love when a groom is highly involved because it brings balance to a wedding day. It also makes for great photos, as my grooms trust me to help them look their best. Often they start out a bit uncomfortable, but they really do great and take direction well. Grooms ..read more

back to journal    “It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.”  This quote by renowned master photographer Paul Caponigro really captures what a great wedding photograph is: Not just a record of an event, but a representation of who people are at a particular point in time. I made up a word specifically for this: Lightness. It’s a portrait of who you are that goes deeper than just what you look like. It does captures your likeness but then blends it with your inner light (what’s amazing and unique and h ..read more
