I'm not a trapper so I'll be the first to say that I'm no way near the best track identifier around, so I have to ask....
I found a set of tracks yesterday that came up to my house and then I couldn't find where they left. Unfortunately, it snowed on them a little later the same night so I couldn't make out pads. From what I've seen coyotes often walk in a straight line, one foot directly in front of the other. Does anybody know if a house cat will do the same?
We don't have a cat, but...

Picked up my first Wolverine today. And was looking online at mount's thought it would be cool since it's my first one to get it mounted but seen a lot of bad pictures of bad mounts. Does anyone in the Palmer area have a suggestion on who to use? May just get the hide tanned or maybe a rug not sure what the cost would be to mount. But definitely keeping it for myself. And if anybody has a good mount of a wolverine I would love to see it to give me some ideas on what I want to do.
One more...

Hey all,
When you're prospecting fur in a new area, do you commit to set and check all season? Or is there a point where you just let it go and take your traps to another new area (or back to your main line)? I'm embarrassed to say I'm trying a new area this year and have gone 10 days without even a visit so I'm trying to decide if I should pull and give them a chance somewhere else or stick it out.
For the record I had a late start in the area so didn't get good scouting in ahead of time...

The early years.
My cabin at Horsefeld on Beaver Creek, Chugach Range.
The first wolverine I ever caught, also the biggest one I ever caught. Around 40 pounds, 1985 I caught a total of three that year.
A very nice cross fox. As good as you can get.
In the olden days, this was a very good days catch for me. A marten, two wolverine and two foxes.
That's me at Horsefeld with Ginger, my first trapline dog.

1990-1995
My first selfy. My snow machine had broken down and I had to finish the season without one. I'd caught a lynx and a wolf at the end of one of my spur lines and had to make a pack board to lash them to and get them home. They'd both been caught in snares and were frozen stiff in very odd shapes.
I'd started learning how to do stuff, this is the first half of my marten catch in the early 90's. The fur buyer was flying out the next day, January first, to...
