And for me it was killing a coyote with a .22LR. Took a short walk in the desert last Saturday early evening looking for rabbits. Didn’t see any but two coyotes crossed my path. One stood broadside at 30 yards. First shot dropped it, second shot expired it. Will likely not try that again with a .22 rimfire but I was impressed with the lethality of that high-velocity hollow point ..read more

Anyone using Wicked Lights for night hunting? I got to use one last weekend and was very impressed with them. I liked how you can change different colors without externally swapping LEDs I also liked the adjustable brightness and beam focusing. This is also the light that I was refering to where you can have red, white, green and IR. My interest in the IR is not for hunting but, would be employed for NV on my home defense rifle only. I was... Wicked hunting Lights ..read more

I braved the rain this afternoon and went out to try to smack a predator or 2. It didn’t work, the only thing I saw was a small heard of mule deer, with a few nice bucks in it. The rain wasn’t totally miserable and was more like short doses of sprinkles. The area is nice, I was surprised I didn’t even bother a fox, but that’s how it goes. It was nice to be out, I haven’t done any calling in 4-5 years. No pics of the deer, that would have been tough trying to hold my phone up to my rifle... Not for a lack of trying ..read more

I'm having a hard time falling yotes by myself lately due to my old partner nonlonger being available. Anybody in the surrounding areas would be greatly appreciated, even just to sleep a few occasionally. Hope somebody has the itch to put these dogs to rest with myself ..read more

I am going to interject here with some cold hard facts about electronic callers. My intent is not to ruffle feathers but to provide sound understanding of some of the details of calling with electronic callers and the callers themselves. I will provide my own opinion, based on my background knowledge of the subject and cite 1 another individual I feel is the most knowledgeable individual on electronic predator callers with no affiliation to any company. I held the position of field staff... Electronic Predator Callers 101 ..read more

Killing Coyotes

I don't kill them as much as I use to, but I still enjoy calling them in close enough to take pictures. Have a couple of ranchers down here that will call when they "think" coyotes are killing their cattle. But what they are seeing is a dead cow that may have died from anything other than a coyote but the coyote is eating it so he gets the blame. If'n I want to continue hunting the ranch I'll go out and do some calling maybe kill a coyote maybe not. Grandson raises chickens and goats and... Killing Coyotes ..read more

I will be out in Prescott for thanksgiving visiting in-laws. I would love to do some coyote hunting, I’m thinking night would be easier to get away from family. I live in Ohio and have everything needed to day or night hunt. What I’m wondering is not knowing the area what kind of success could I have just going out and cold calling without scouting an area. Here in Ohio you have to scout to have any kind of success ..read more

Coyote gun choices

I’m a big game hunter (deer, elk, brown bear) and I also love small game (rabbits, squirrel, etc). Also, I go in for turkeys and waterfowl. We have an open predator season on coyotes because they are a huge problem for farmers. My cousin asked me to do some coyote control on his farm. I thought about it and realized I don’t have any rifle that really fits the bill. I have a 1967 REM700BDL in 7mm REM MAG. I have a .22 bolt action mated to a dead air mask. I have a 12 gadge semi. Finally... Coyote gun choices ..read more
