The Importance of Labor Day to a Newborn Yesterday’s newborn shoot was a delight and we were able to get some terrific pictures of little Leilah Joy!  Our little baby came a couple of weeks early which technically is still okay… the rule is that a pregnancy should last approximately 40 weeks and anything earlier than 37 weeks is considered premature.  Our little girl slid in right under that threshold and was born at a healthy six pounds, five ounces. The Tricky Jaundice Dance in Newborn Photography Another beautiful newborn in the studio today!  Little Henrietta was a doll and we were able to get some great photos!  The only hiccup we had in the lead up was small bout of jaundice.  Jaundice is a frequent issue with many of the babies that come to me for photo sessions.  All it usually amounts to is a delay by a couple days, during which the baby receives treatment for the jaundice in the form of phototherapy. Styling Your Baby’s Hair for their Newborn Shoot Something tells me the mommy of our newborn today is a fan of traveling or at the very least, the tropics.  Why?  Because the name of the beautiful little baby who graced my studio this afternoon is Isla, which is Spanish for Island.  Isla was a treat to photograph and we were able to get some great pictures! What’s in a Newborn’s Name? There is nothing I love more than a newborn baby with a big head of curls!  Well today did not disappoint in that category as beautiful little Kharis graced my photography studio this afternoon with her lovely head of hair and was a complete delight! Policing the Newborns Prior to 1999 thousands of newborn babies used to be abandoned in the United States.  Mothers who, for whatever reason, found the prospect of raising a child too much to bear would routinely leave newborns everywhere from trash bins to hospital doorsteps. A Newborn Dreams of Sports Yes folks, we have a boxer in the house!  So often the parents of our little newborns make a request to include some type of sports memorabilia in the pictures with the babies and I’m always eager to accommodate.  Over the years I’ve included everything in photos from race car helmets to hockey sticks.  I guess now I’ve finally worked my way over to the sport of boxing!
