The Dog-Friendly Pub Awards

Disclosure: this post is sponsored by ,Rover.com Having travelled extensively around the UK, we’ve visited “a few” pubs... From those serving refreshments only to the gastropubs, some even boasting Michelin stars! The country ones are almost always dog friendly, but many London ones are too. What is a dog-friendly pub? A pub that allows dogs, well, you tell me? To us there is so much more. We make a difference between one where dogs are allowed, reluctantly sometimes, and where they are made to feel welcome. Does the pub display a clear sign at the door to say dogs are welcome? Are bowls of ..read more

Travel to/from the UK with Pets (before & after Brexit)

The one thing that Maman and Papa said could make them consider leaving the UK after (booh hiss) Brexit was what we love the most: travelling together and potentially not being able to do this abroad anymore. We're still not sure what exactly will happen but we can now get prepared... and the great news is that we now know for sure that we WILL be able to carry on travelling together even if there is no deal. It might just be a bit more complicated depending on the scenario (and deal) and might involve 4 months of preparation - so anyone wishing to travel with their pets after 29 March 2019 n ..read more

Why Feeding Quality Treats is Important

The provenance and quality of the food we - humans - eat is often talked about. Dogs are such a big part of our lives - and families, that where the food we feed them comes from, and how healthy it is, should be just as important. Yet grab most packs of dog food or treats, have a look at the ingredients list and one thing is clear: how unclear what we are feeding them often is. What part of the animal are we feeding them? What animal does it actually come from? Where does that meat (or ingredient) come from? "Your are what you eat"... and so is your dog The old saying “You are what you eat” a ..read more

7 Benefits of Raw Feeding

(and a 20% discount off Natures Menu's website at the end of this post!) I can't pinpoint exactly why we've never addressed this publicly before - it's probably because of not feeling confident enough (ironic when the French are known to eat their meat raw, and one of us is a chef who knows a lot about food hygiene and that handling raw meat for dogs is just the same as handling raw meat for humans) Marcel has been fed a ready-made raw food diet since Summer 2017, when we're at home or on the go with access to a fridge. I won't get into some aggressive preaching about how every dog should be ..read more

Harper's Bazaar Photoshoot

At the occasion of the release of the 3rd season of The Crown on Netflix this November 2019 (in which she plays Princess Margaret), and to celebrate her nomination for the Women of the Year awards, Harper's Bazaar asked Marcel to take part in Helena Bonham Carter's photoshoot for their December 2019 issue! THE email we received asking us to take part in the shoot was probably the most exciting we had in 2019! Those often require weeks of keeping this a secret - the worst part really. When it finally did, on a September morning, myself and Marcel jumped on a cab heading to North West London, an ..read more

HUG Dog Food - Because Dogs Deserve le Best & Life is Too Short (Like Marcel’s Legs) to Compromise!

Disclosure: this blog post is part of a paid partnership with HUG Pet Food. We’ve trialled the food for several weeks prior to accepting to write this review to make sure we were happy to promote it. See end of the article for a 30% off code. Words & opinion are my own. Dogs are le best and deserve le best, and we don’t like to compromise with His Royal Lowness’ welfare and food. One thing that baffles me is that the advice is for us humans to eat less processed food (because it is best for our health), yet when it comes to dog food some tell you quite the opposite. Marcel has been fed ra ..read more

5 Things to Do in New Orleans

To celebrate Mardi-Gras, we've compiled a list of the favourite things we did when in New Orleans aka NOLA for a couple of nights in December 2019: from spirit hunting to eating delicacies and enjoying the local sights... All of the following were tried and tested independently, after we did our own research and some recommendations by locals. "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler"! When? We loved being there in December (after driving from Dallas TX and before heading to Washington DC via Nashville) as it was very quiet (definitely not recommending to go around Mardi Gras with a dog, way too busy an ..read more
