You love it !! As autumn sets in, you're already thinking about your favorite 1971 jumper that you wore last season. It kept you company every week, lived your every move throughout the day, shared your moments at all hours, was almost part of you. So now it's time to give it a wellness cure, a rejuvenation, an autumn treatment for those infamous pilling spots, those intrusive little fluffy creatures that intrude without warning into the life of your jumpers, disrupting their beautiful regularity. Let's start by reassuring ourselves: pilling is normal Unless you have a jumper made from pointle ..read more

Now that’s what we like to see! A timeless piece to make our own – and make even better. A way to play with conventions by making something beautiful and high-quality It was about time the true blue denim shirt featured in our collection.  We’ve kept the western cut, as seen in the flap pockets on the chest, the bent sleeves, the yoke and the seam finish on the back.  They’re joined by a removable pin on the breast pocket and 1971-branded snap fasteners.  We went for a real indigo dye, prepared by our supplier ISKO, with as raw a wash as possible, crafted with the greatest care ..read more

As we’re sure you know by now, we’re not ones to say no to a nice contrast. Our fine and stylish pieces assume a strong rebel attitude. The mods took Fred Perry’s polo shirt and made it their insignia, establishing a style as a reaction, to show opposition. They broke with conventions and thumbed their noses at the establishment. Naturally, we see a bit of ourselves in them… So, we’ve kept the style and, like always, done what we do best: high quality, green production, and invested and skilled partners. Fatima and her team are committed to an approach that matches our values: know-how – built ..read more

How to wash your jeans ?

To start with, we believe that jeans shouldn’t be washed. Well, most of the time, anyway. But if you can’t stop yourself or you want to freshen them up a little, here are a few tips. First of all, if your jeans have turn-ups, you need to unroll them or they’ll leave a mark. If you don’t want to leave your jeans outside to soak in the rain, the next best thing is a short wash cycle at 30°C – and forget about detergent or softener. If you’ve got a bad stain, scrub it with a sponge. Make sure you don’t overload the drum; stick to washing two or three pairs at a time. And if you want to keep their ..read more

1971’s graphic T-shirts - The unmissable essentials.

While James Dean and Steve McQueen sported white T-shirts in the 50s, the industry continued to change and reinvent itself. In the 60s, the T-shirt became a means of communicating views and a propaganda tool. Take the hippies, who used it as a way to express their pacifism in psychedelic colours and in doing so “demilitarised” the T-shirt, which was originally a military piece. Graphic design evolved throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, becoming a channel of communication, then a promotional tool, turning all kinds of fans into human billboards! While the 90s saw the stirrings of a graphic revolut ..read more

Two symbols join forces. Actually, no: two legends. So aligned with our very essence, so in tune with our world, it seemed only right... And did I mention it's for a noble cause? It’s in support of the renowned "Distinguished Gentleman's Ride" as part of its international charitable initiatives for men's mental health and prostate cancer awareness.  Ah, Les Paul and Bonneville...*sigh*... Both are considered the Holy Grail of their respective worlds, and are still manufactured and sold to this day. The top fundraiser of the 2022 edition will be their proud owner – now how a ..read more

At 1971, we like to take inspiration from our favourite things – and in this case, one of our former favourites. Who our age hasn’t worn that legendary tracksuit made by the brand with three stripes? Remember swapping yours with your friends? Whatever antics you got up to, it was right there with you! It was one of those pieces that defined an era, a snapshot of the good old days. So we chose to update it with a new, ultra-high quality version. Not because we missed it, necessarily, but because we wanted to relive those carefree days. To take in the sweet scent of the seventies again. Our vers ..read more
