Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here. Incidents a-plenty this week, seeing me head back indoors for the first time in a while. It was good to try out the new MyWhoosh routes as a result, and both got a… Source ..read more

Gallows Lane

A decent longer ride today, albeit not without incident. I got pulled out on three times. At the start of the ride, not far at all from home, and then twice very much towards the end. Ridiculous. Fortunately no accidents. I really need a camera. It’s a YouTube gold mine out there on the open roads. If I am going to get run over, it might as well be monetised. I didn’t have a proper plan in… Source ..read more

MyWhoosh – First Ride: Area 52
Cycling Indoors

After yesterday’s ride on Alcatraz AWOL I decided to carry on exploring the new California map with another workout, this time using the Pacing #1 workout on the Area 52 route. Much like how Alcatraz AWOL takes in more than just Alcatraz Island, so does Area 52 cover off more than only the UFO research facility. This route clocks in at 21.8km, with 146m of climb per lap. Cycling Incidents Are Like Buses
Cycling Indoors

Thankfully, not involving buses. I had two incidents today. No joke, within the space of a couple of minutes. The first was a little car that had a green P plate on – one that means “I just passed my test”. The guy pulled out on me, no indicator. So I shouted, “Our Lord in heaven, why fore art thou not’th indicating?” Or, words to that effect – with a tad more… Source ..read more

Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here. A really good week with a couple of longer 40km+ rides, some climbing, and generally enjoyable cycling. If only every week could be like this. Here are this week’s… Source ..read more

Gone Climbin’
Cycling Indoors

Unintentionally, I might add. I went out today to do 40km. I started the ride on some random side streets I have never ridden, had no idea existed, and ultimately turned out not to go anywhere particularly exciting. After that, I found myself on the road to Longridge. I wasn’t in the mood for going up Jeffrey Hill the same way as I went last time, so decided to go down to… Source ..read more

OK, so UK voting day. Used the bike to go to the polling station. Seems the ride there was either lost or didn’t record somehow. I think that’s because I mucked about too much trying to set the bike alarm, and then realised it was only a bunch of old duffers knocking about and by the time I’d got in, they’d voted Tory, and I’d got out, any would be thief wouldn’t have had time to get their leg… Source ..read more

Another Stupid Push
Cycling Indoors

Went out today with no plan and ended up pushing hard for the full hour. I was feeling it in the legs pretty much when I set off and whilst that did ease, I have probably only made myself even more tired than I already was. Well. Fatigued. I don’t know how the pros do it. I really don’t. Then again they probably wonder the same about people who sit on their arse in front of a… Source ..read more

Another Windy Day In Paradise

A good ride today. Longer than a usual weekday, partly because I didn’t get to ride yesterday (due exclusively to weather) and wanted to “make up for it”. And partly because I needed a break from work. Going out early – mid-morning – meant quiet roads. Everything was pretty perfect, except for getting stuck behind a tractor at one point – you can see that on the map above right at the… Source ..read more

Got Wet
Cycling Indoors

Normally I would have stayed indoors today. But without Zwift, and without having downloaded the latest update for MyWhoosh, I had the choice of either staying inside and waiting for the download to finish / the program to install etc, or just go out. And get wet. Yes, the rain is back. So off out I went in full winter kit, including over shoes for the love of God. It’s June! Source ..read more
