She seems to be planted in normal soil and was in a dark corner indoors. Repotting her today in sphagnum and hoping with some TLC and lots of light she can give me tons of pitchers. She is suposedly a ventricosa, I hear they are tough mfs. submitted by /u/Moth1992 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I’ve noticed recently that some of my flytraps are turning black and refusing to either open/close. Is this healthy (I’m guessing it’s not). What should I do? submitted by /u/Shadowknight_234 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I got this fly trap about a week ago from California Carnivores and I noticed there is another plant growing to the left of it as well as some grass looking stuff around the pot. Does anyone know what it could be and/or if I should pull it? submitted by /u/Legitimate-Tap [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I noticed that my drosera Capensis has started to have a lot more rotting/browning leaves and I’m not sure if it’s a big issue or normal. The leaves have also started to slump over instead of growing upright. Still good dew production (picture angle and lighting doesn’t show it well) and I still see new growth consistently. For context they sit in my greenhouse cabinet under 2 5W grow lights 7-8 inches above the plant for 12-15hrs a day. Sitting in distilled water at all times and max sea 16-16-16 feedings every 3-4 weeks (I put a few drops on the leaves). Potted 75/25 sphagnum/perlite. I ..read more

Drosophyllum lusitanicum kept out doors. I am trying to figure out what these white dots are on my plant. I thought possible dirt but I not sure. Whatever it is/are they do not move. I have some images under a "microscope" any thoughts would be appreciated and if they are pests should I just use some neem oil? It doesn't appear to be bad, yet and the plant has new growth but the new growth is smaller and thinner than it was before. It's also been 111 - 114 pretty consistently here. I know these guys can take the heat but I have been doing a lot to keep it shaded and cooler, morning sun on ..read more

How do you keep your bogs from completely overflowing during heavy thunderstorms and washing all the perlites and other debris out of it? So glad I haven't yet planted anything as I was waiting for the soil to set. submitted by /u/JKronich [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
