First written eight years ago, it’s been edited and changed since and is finally ready to be shared with the world. French post-punk band TECHNOPOLICE have just put out their newest EP In Your Pocket. Heavily inspired by the punk movement seen in Marseilles from the late 2000s to the early 2010s, the quartet are ready to show off their stubborn attitude, one to make the likes of TOMY & THE COUGARS and CALIVITIE proud, whilst also being unafraid to incorporate sounds from indie and pop music. That combination results in an EP that can be easily summed up as fun and catchy. Opening the record is HiJacked Communication which kicks things off with fast drums that has you sat ready, immediately excited to he ..read more

EP REVIEW: Lonely People – Love Rarely

Exploring the complexities of love, the human experience and loss, LOVE RARELY are not afraid to showcase the rawness of humanity. Their debut EP, Lonely People, perfectly encapsulates this. Throughout the six songs, the EP jumps from post-punk to pop, but at the core of the Leeds-based post-punks is vulnerability, soulful lyrics and enchanting melodies that invite all the lonely people to come together. From the opening guitar riffs and drum beats on And You Know It, there is something raw about this EP. The vocals are harsh and unpolished, which gives the EP an edge. Whilst some might compla ..read more

EP REVIEW: Clouded Room – General Admin

With their roots in New Zealand and the UK, GENERAL ADMIN have something of a unique experience of where they’ve grown with music. Finding respite in bands like PAVEMENT, FUGAZI and SLINT, those influences planted seeds in the minds of the three friends over the years and can be heard blossoming on their new EP Clouded Room. Reminiscent of the smoky box like venues they grew up attending shows in, not only does the EP remain grateful and loyal to their modest beginnings, but as the record plays, the sincerity of three best friends making music that they would have loved to listen to back in th ..read more

LIVE REVIEW: Drab Majesty @ Room 2, Glasgow

Today’s intransigent storm gallops throughout the day, yet pauses for the new wave act DRAB MAJESTY as they descend on Glasgow. This marks the duo’s return to Scotland’s largest metropolis since 2019’s performance. Their local admirer numbers have ballooned since then, with the Americans playing a sweaty Room 2, instead of Broadcast‘s humble basement. The storm seemingly deterred no punters tonight; the venue is uncomfortably busy before the opening act takes the stage. Tonight’s truly an exhibition of unapologetic 80s nostalgic revelry. The first act of the night is the Italian-American thre ..read more
