How to smooth only a couple of edges

I made a drawing of a knob in sketchup. I would like now to smoothen a couple of edges. Just the marked ones in the picture. https://preview.redd.it/opwtei1ifrdd1.png?width=862&format=png&auto=webp&s=005715cd14b9d9a3b7f4db83b9c49ea64974d4ab It appears to me subdivision (of the subd extension) only works on components but cannot work on just a specific edge. I tried to cut off of the top part, and then to apply subdivision just on that part, but that does not really solve the issue as it also deforms the original cutting line, making it impossible to glue them back together. I had this issue before and I couldn't figure it out. I can't find the cpkg.db nor the cpkg.meta files on my computer. I use a MacBook Pro 2015. submitted by /u/ThomasMullerVray [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I don’t know if the flair is correct or not. If it isn’t let me know and i’ll change it or something. I need help, I’m studying interior design in university and im currently working on my thesis project (English is not my first language so I don’t know if that’s the correct term, but it’s the last big project you have to do to graduate. It’s a big investigation and presentation) Right now the only big thing I have left to do is make renders of my sketchup model, it is a really big model to be fair, but i have purged it and done my best to not overdo it. Im using Vray to do the renders and it ..read more

Hi Everyone, I am trying to export a model from Sketchup 2024 - which seems on SK whole and great, while exporting and importing into Blender, Im getting tons of missing Faces, And I don't know why, I tried to go both FBX. OBJ. and even a Data Smith, nothing seems to work, and it has been breaking my mind for awhile now, Do you have any ideas on how to resolve this? https://preview.redd.it/72xuzzsinbdd1.png?width=2537&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b0b94da81c8e07c58b8547c58cd0d5d10eb61c5 Many Thanks submitted by /u/Commercial-Army-5843 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello everyone, I work in the field of aluminum, kitchens, and cabinets, and I have extensive experience in steel structures (warehouses, steel buildings). Recently, I wanted to learn a skill to improve myself in my field. When I asked ChatGPT for a skill that suits my line of work, it suggested that I learn design skills. Upon researching various design programs, I found many options, but I chose SketchUp because it's easy to use, has many features, and there are plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube. I started learning SketchUp about a month ago, and I feel like I'm making good progress. How ..read more

How to get a curve to follow a… um… curve

I'm designing a jewelry tray and I'm not quite sure how to model the corners. Hopefully the screenshot is pretty self evident, but if not: The footprint/shape of the tray is a rectangle with has rounded corners with 1" radii. The sides of the tray meet the bottom with a 1/4" inner radius (you know, which would be cut with a bowl/dish, or round nose bit). I'm not sure how to get that inner radius to follow the rounded corners of the footprint/shape of the tray. Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/0dmfmv7avadd1.png?width=3264&format=png&auto=webp&s=b438d15ea903f4e306082f08e8df75a939 ..read more
