Spring has arrived (along with a lot of pollen), and we’re busy bees here at Lesley Myrick Interior Design. Many of our Macon, Georgia interior design projects take a year or more to complete, and it’s hard to wait for projects to be finished to share what we’re up to! Here’s a peek at several of our interior design projects that are in process, due to be completed by the end of the year. PROJECT #1: Modern Macon Bungalow This is our third project for this fab client – we previously completed the bedrooms and bathrooms in her main home, along with her hotel-chic poolside guest house. Now, we ..read more

Macon, Georgia Interior Design of a Living Room and Dining Room

Last month, I shared the before-and-after photos with you of my kitchen remodel. Now, this month’s Macon, Georgia interior design project features my living room and dining room makeover. While neither space needed remodeling, we updated the furnishings and decor to freshen up the design and ensure both rooms flowed well visually with the kitchen. Living Room and Dining Room, Before These “before” photos are from the online listing when we bought the home in 2019. The living room has great built-ins and a wood-burning brick fireplace, but the chunky farmhouse mantel wasn’t doing the room ..read more

Macon, Georgia Interior Design of a Kitchen

I can’t wait to share the before-and-after photos with you of this Macon, Georgia interior design project – because it’s my own kitchen! We’ve been wanting to remodel this space since we purchased this classic Southern house in 2019, but a surprise plumbing leak (and subsequently having to rip open walls and ceilings to re-plumb the entire house) is what finally pushed us to renovate the kitchen. Kitchen, Before When we moved to Macon the kitchen had dated granite countertops, distressed ivory cabinets, a dark brown island, and absolutely no personality. As a quick refresh, we painted the lo ..read more

Macon Love: Favorite Local Artists

I’ve been an interior designer in Macon, Georgia for almost 5 years, and this edgy Southern city continues to surprise me in the best possible ways. (After all, before moving here, I had only heard of Macon on a very unflattering episode of Sex and the City.) One of those delightful surprises has been the local art scene. I’m an avid art collector, and there’s some incredible talent here creating abstract and mixed media pieces that I’ve been scooping up for my clients, and for my own home too. Here’s a brief introduction to 3 of my favorite Macon artists. -LM Joe Adams Joe Adams‘ pieces are ..read more

Currently Crushing On…Teal

When am I not crushing on teal? From my teal sofa to my favorite teal leather jacket to the many iterations of the Lesley Myrick Interior Design logo (here, and more recently, here), teal is my favorite and it’s here to stay. Real Simple magazine has declared teal the “color of the month”, and I have to wholeheartedly agree. This rich blue-green pairs beautifully with the warm rust and pumpkin tones that are prevalent this time of year. Shop a few of my favorite teal furnishings and decor below (including the teal, pink, and orange wallpaper I’ve been completely obsessed with). -LM Currently ..read more

Travel Inspiration: San Antonio, Texas

Several times per year, I step away from the day-to-day of interior design in Macon, Georgia and treat myself to a few days away at a spa or resort (or both!). Sometimes I use this time to leave work behind and recharge personally with a new book, journal, and massage; other times, like on my recent trip to San Antonio, Texas, it’s a mix of recharging personally and getting inspired professionally. My wonderful friend Tami of Dwell & Flourish Interior Design met me at La Cantera Resort and Spa in the Texas Hill Country for a week of deep-diving into our businesses and soaking up design in ..read more

Before and After: Renovated Farmhouse Bedroom in Forsyth, GA

Last month, we shared the project reveal of a 100-year-old farmhouse living room, dining room, and lounge in Forsyth, Georgia. While the goal for those family-centric spaces was to bring a light and bright feel, the design direction for the primary bedroom was completely different – think rich, intimate, and cozy. And in typical LMID fashion, we had to include a little wallpaper, too! Here’s a look at the entire full-service interior design project from start to finish. Primary Bedroom, Before The primary bedroom was an addition to the original farmhouse, with a grand 15′ vaulted ceiling an ..read more

Before and After: Renovated Farmhouse in Forsyth, GA

A professional family in Forsyth, Georgia, recently renovated their 100-year-old farmhouse. While they loved the character of the home they were able to retain (original shiplap! Rustic exposed ceilings!) they were not loving how overwhelmingly brown everything felt after the remodel. Our goal? Infuse this dark home with light, color, pattern, and personality. We introduced rich neutral textures like plush velvets, ombre metals, and buttery leather, paired with earthy green hues and pops of blush pink that complimented the historic architecture while feeling fresh. Here’s a look at ..read more

Currently Crushing On…Florals, Faces, and Fluting

I’m currently on summer vacation with my family in beautiful Minnesota (hello boating, swimming, campfires and starlight) but even when away from the office I’m always thinking about interior design. Some of my favorite furniture and decor pieces I’ve been crushing on lately have bold florals, quirky faces, and Art Deco-inspired fluting. (That Nero marble side table is a work of art!) Pay attention to the details in design – it’s the little things that make it magic. -LM Currently crushing on… Start Your Design Project At Lesley Myrick Interior Design, we make the typically confusing desig ..read more

One Room Challenge: Week 4

Welcome to the One Room Challenge 2023! Over the course of 8 weeks, I’ll be completing a one-room makeover of my own living room. Follow along with all our One Room Challenge posts here. Our fireplace mantel has been a big sore spot in the living room since we purchased the home in 2019. We love having a functioning wood-burning fireplace (this is my Minnesotan husband’s favorite thing!) but the fireplace, brick surround, and mantel felt so heavy and drab. This too-big, visually heavy farmhouse-style mantel didn’t make sense in our traditional Georgian-style home, and I was ready to rip it ou ..read more
