I know this might come across as a provocative question, and especially with the advent of GPT, there's this notion that you never truly learn or deeply engage with topics, e bla bla bla. But here's the thing: I only really needed to start writing articles with LaTeX a few years ago, which happened to be after GPT was released. And I have to say, I'm genuinely amazed at how easy it is to use. I always manage to achieve what I have in mind (and if I can't, I figure it out myself). So, I'm curious about the difference in effort when using LaTeX before and after GPT. I'd love to hear from those ..read more

I want to use Lua to transform content in $...$ or $$...$$ or $$...$$ or \begin{align} ... \end{align} etc. before Tex sees it. Is this possible? Here is a simple part of my motivation. $OABC$ renders awfully in both fonts I've tried: the kerning between O and A is too wide. The same problem appears with many other capital-letter combinations, which often occur in situations involving geometry or vectors. Apparently that's because there is no kerning information available to math mode, and the solution is to use $\mathit{OABC}$. I would like to pre-process math content to apply \mathit ..read more

I figured out how to plot sin^2(deg（x） by multiplying them, but how can I add constants beside the x? I tried to put sin(deg(0.2x))*sin(deg(0.2x)), but it doesn't work submitted by /u/Ok_Conversation_2677 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So I'm in my macbook air m2 and I use VS Code for writing latex with a MikTex distribution. This is actually my first time using a mac so I don't know a whole lot of details about directories and stuff. I want to use a personal sty file (for example, say, https://github.com/vEnhance/dotfiles/blob/main/texmf/tex/latex/evan/evan.sty ). In which directory should I store the sty file after downloading so that vscode can properly compile the pdf? As of now it just says "evan.sty not found". I stored the file in ~bin since I thought miktex stores all its stuff over there but unfortunately it still ..read more

I am new to LaTex and have an error that I cannot solve. I am using a template from my university and would like to be able to jump to the relevant chapter via the table of contents. The hyperref package should make this possible. Unfortunately, the following error occurs in connection with the pdfx package: "! Missing number, treated as zero." I hope you can help me. Here is the template code: % vim: set ts=4 sw=4 smartindent expandtab textwidth=100: \documentclass[a4paper, final, draft, % oneside, 11pt]{book} \usepackage{fontspec} \usepackage{microtype} \usepackage{polyglossia} \setdefault ..read more
