Well guys, my personal record of five years of not catching COVID-19 has been broken. Went to a family do on Sunday, was told a family member, who had previously tested negative, retested positive for COVID-19, on retesting on Monday, and I myself tested negative on Wednesday morning. ( I was booked for a second cataract operation that very afternoon. Luckily the surgical team opted to postpone the operation because, on the evening of the day following the proposed day of the procedure... Read more ..read more

I replaced one cap but it took too much effort. I really had to struggle getting the original cap off and putting the new on required a lot of pressure. This tells me I'm missing something. It should be easy. I could use some help with this, this being changing bass button caps on Roland FR accordions ..read more

Delivery from Victoria to UK?
The Accordionists Forum

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get to Castelfidardo to pick up my new accordion from Victoria. They were delayed (no, really...) so I don't have a window to make the trip. Elke is now talking about sending via UPS. I am concerned that the package will be opened and then badly repacked at UK customs - does anyone have any recent (post-Brexit) experience of receiving accordions in the UK from Italy ..read more

My Old Wood Hohner "Accordeon"

This is my 2 row Hohner "Accordeon" that was given to me a few years ago, my first/only accordion and my favorite to play. I tuned all the reeds and replaced all the old leather with nice new leather parts. I love it because of how simple it is to play. All the B's are on push and all the C's and A's are on pull while all the other notes have push or pull on two different buttons. The 11 button row is tuned to play in the key of Bmajor while the 10 button row is... Read more ..read more

Aluminum foil: the holy grail of reed cleaning?
The Accordionists Forum
by TahoeJoe

Whilst beginning to clean my reeds today, my cheap brass brushes seem to wear down quite quickly and have trouble getting into the finer reed slots. I dont have steel wool on hand, but thought back to scrubbing a barbeque with aluminum foil in place of a grill brush. Lo and behold after trying it out, the aluminum foil is perfectly moldable, incredibly cheap, removes rust and grime much better than brass wire brushes, and can fit into all of the reed slots and doesn't scratch the reed block... Hello All! A little about me

I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 26 and live in the US. I was given an old 2 row Diatonic Hohner "Accordeon" a few years ago and have taught myself to play and recently restored it tuning all the reeds and replacing the leather parts with new leather etc., I have grown to love the old fashioned wood keys with buttons with the 10 button row being elevated from the 11 button row. I love how the whole accordion is made of wood, metal, leather, and glue. Glad to be here... Read more ..read more
