I have a 2004 Scion XA 1.5L Hatchback. Ive owned the car one year, driven it less than 3,000 miles and its odometer is now at 173,763 As the title explains as soon as I turn on my car (not every time, but especially when its hot) there is a high pitched squealing, it happens sometimes too when I turn right. My starter went out a couple of days ago and I have been trying to find out information on changing it out. I haven’t had a whole lot of luck. I was able to find a diagram that shows the starter is located underneath the car and was wondering if this is correct and if it’s fairly simple to change out. I don’t have any car savvy in-person guidance for this and I’m just trying to get it done safely and accurately. Any info would be greatly appreciated. My belt on my first gen 2004 xB has acquired an awful squealing sound, sometimes i have to let the car idle for it to go away or even a slight change of less to more throttle while making a turn will cause it to start screaming at me. Ive looked at multiple videos online of using a pry bar against the alternator to add tension to the belt. My 2009 XB is toast, so I bought a much better 2010 XB. One of the first things I noticed when I first saw it was fogged up headlights (100% steamed up). At home I stuck a air bed inflator hose in the blinker bulb hole and dried up all of the moisture. The next day, fogged up again! My 09 never did this, nor any other car I've owned. Yesterday I checked my Scion xA’s cabin air filter because it’s pollen season. When I pulled it out, an enormous amount of dried leaves and other debris came out. They were even some clumps of what looked like artificial stuffing material. I cleaned it out, replaced the filter, and vacuumed out what I could reach inside the duct. After I replaced the filter, I turned my fan up high for awhile and then checked it again. A whole other clump of debris had come up from the duct.
