The Independent is a weekly Rhode Island newspaper covering Narragansett, North Kingstown and South Kingstown. South County Independent was launched in 1997 and North East Independent was launched in 1999 and were award winning newspapers. These two Distinguished Newspapers combined in 2015 and was called The Independent.
