It’s an hour before the first serve of a Nebraska volleyball match. Up in media row at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, Husker volleyball radio announcer John Baylor is doing his pregame show.
While he’s recording, die-hard fans of the volleyball team stop and wave. Baylor, despite streaming live to thousands of people, makes sure to wave back and smile at each of them.

Out of all the teams to look at this winter, none are more polarizing than the Pius X Girls team. Led by Journal Star Co-Coach of the Year Ryan Psota, the girls ended last year with a 19-6 record, a shockingly high number of losses for the bolts.
“Last year was disappointing for us.” Said coach Psota. “It’s the first time we haven’t qualified for the state tournament in a number of years.”
However, this year the girls are looking to lower that number astronomically.
