Colorectal cancer is the nation's second leading cause of cancer-related deaths, affecting men and women who are mostly 45 and older.
In Michigan, the American Cancer Society estimates more than 4,600 cases of colorectal cancer will be reported in 2024, with more than 1,700 deaths resulting from this disease. The good news is that with regular screenings, lives can be saved.

Kasan Belgrave is among the many jazz musicians performing at Cliff Bells in Downtown Detroit.
"The fact that I'm in this position, it's good for my generation of musicians, it's good for the next generation," said Kasan.
This is the 25-year-old's first residency, and it's special on many fronts.
"It's very exciting, I've been coming here since I was 9 or 10 years old," he said.

Dr. Rema Vassar has resigned as the Michigan State University Board of Trustees chair ahead of a special meeting Sunday night.
In a letter obtained by 7 Action News, Dr. Vasser said she plans to stay on the board and that her resignation is effective upon the naming of a new Chair.

Car lovers, rejoice! Over 850 cars are on display at the 71st annual Detroit Autorama. Every vehicle you see on Huntington Place's show floor has a unique history, including a 2004 GMC Canyon that has been restored by six students at the Oakland Schools Technical Campuses.
Joshua Flanders, 18, Kirby Delacruz, 17, and 17-year-old Carter Krugman are three of the students.

Michigan State Police and the Detroit Police Department have canceled an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old girl taken during a carjacking Saturday night in Detroit. The toddler was discovered safe just before 6 a.m. Sunday near the area the car was stolen from.
Investigators say the toddler was in the back seat of a black 2006 Chrysler 300, Michigan license plate EQQ8148, that was stolen from a Sunoco gas station on Schoolcraft and Greenfield on the city's westside around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

32-year-old Darrick Muhammed says he is a diehard Pistons fan.
"All the way, I mean, I'm talking about Ben Wallace, autographed pictures; I bought the jerseys," said Muhammed.
The proud Detroiter even remembers when the Pistons rocked the teal jerseys.
"I was at the Pistons parade in 2004," said Muhammed.
So when I told Muhammed about the unique Pistons exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum, he was beyond excited.

Folks are getting ready for the Super Bowl tomorrow night.
But for some Lions fans, the pain of not making the championship game is still a sore topic.

The 3rd annual Winter Blast event returns to Royal Oak.
Last year's three-day event attracted 50,000 people, and this year, the goal is to bring more folks as it offers plenty to everyone.
