Photos by Mario Serafin With its picturesque canals set against a luscious backdrop of open space, abundant waterfowl and sea life, and easy access to a public marina and Tiburon Yacht Club, Tiburon’s bayfront enclave Paradise Cay is made for water lovers. So, when a 1,500-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath home with a sunroom overlooking the bay in the community hit the market, it was a perfect fit for a lifelong sailor, even though it would require an extensive renovation. Tamalpais then plunges almost into the surf before finishing in Stinson Beach. Organizers say 1,500 runners will participate with nearly a third of them being women. Yet, it hasn’t always been this way. At its beginning in 1905, women were not allowed to compete in the Dipsea. Back then the nation’s Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) maintained long distance running was “dangerous to a woman’s reproductive health.” And the ..read more

As the CEO and executive director of the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, Tanya McVeigh Peterson, J.D., typically welcomes 800,000 visitors a year who come to see the zoo’s many amphibian, bird, invertebrate, mammal and reptile residents; lush gardens; and historic 1921 Dentzel Carousel and 1904 Little Puffer steam train. Marin Magazine
by Mikalia Wood

Every entrepreneur knows running a business comes with the perks and headaches of being your own boss. Combine that with a partner who is your mother or daughter, and you’ve got an unshakeable formula for success. That old nugget, it turns out, is false. Family-run businesses have a distinct advantage, according to a 2021 Harvard Business Review article.
