Michigan State basketball PG A.J. Hoggard officially enters NCAA transfer portal
Spartans Wire

Tom Izzo made it clear last week that if A.J. Hoggard decided to return to play more college basketball, it wouldn’t be with Michigan State basketball, so it wasn’t a major surprise on Friday when Hoggard officially entered the NCAA transfer portal. It will be interesting to see what Hoggard does this offseason. After a stellar 2022-23 campaign, Hoggard seemingly took a stepback last year, with his numbers going down in many categories. Some thought Hoggard might try to pursue some level of pro basketball, but it looks like he is content to go after some of the NIL money that is out there for ..read more

Spartans Wire

Michigan State football legend Kirk Cousins inked a massive deal this offseason to join the Atlanta Falcons after spending the last five years with the Minnesota Vikings, so it was a bit surprising to see the Falcons select Michael Penix Jr. out of Washington in the 2024 NFL draft. It seems like Cousins was just as stunned as anyone. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, Cousins was not expecting his successor to be taken in the first round of this year’s draft. Since Cousins signed a huge four-year deal, it definitely seems a little unconventional to take a quarterback so high just to sit ..read more

Projecting college football 'Super League' divisions and where MSU would land
Spartans Wire
by Robert Bondy

Could the European soccer model be coming to college football in America? There apparently are rumblings of a group pushing for this. A few weeks ago, The Athletic reported that a group known as the College Sports Tomorrow (CST) has formulated a proposal to scrap conferences in college football and form a new “Super League” of 80 teams. The league would consist of eight 10-team divisions with seven of those divisions made up of permanent “Super League” teams and the final division being influx via relegation. All of the details are still up in the air, but the assumption is the old “Power Fiv ..read more
