Using DEF pumps at truck stop lanes

So my questions are about using the DEF pump at the truck fuel lane: 1) is the hose long enough to reach the fill spout located at the right side firewall? 2) Is this an oversize nozzle that will be too large for the filler pipe? 3) Is the flow so rapid as to cause regurgitation into the engine bay? 4) How does the price compare to say Walmart? This is a 2019 Silverado Duramax 2500 SRW. Thanks ..read more

My LMM finally needed some love - New Glow Plug

I've had my 2009 3500HD CCLB Dually since August 30th, 2009. It only has a tad over 79k miles on it because I only use it as my truck camper hauler. It also hibernates during the winter. It finally needed a new glow plug. The are pretty easy to replace, though some are a little harder to get at than others. I paid about $18.xx on Amazon for a new glow plug. Here's a video of the project. I replaced the glow plug on cylinder #4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZv_OEtsBb4 ..read more

LML finally needed some love

Finally had to have some work done on my LML. Kind caught me all at once. The Transmission Control Module croaked. That's essentially the brain like the engine ECU. That was $1300.00. Then I got a check engine light and that was a Turbo replacement as the veins weren't free and operating as the engine needed. My scanner said pretty much what they said. Turbo was a $6000.00 replacement. The Diesel repair shop that did the Turbo said that now was the time(160,000 miles and the cab was off) to replace the problematic CP4 injector pump with the more proven CP3 pump that is modified to address all ..read more

Put gasoline in my diesel tank.

Well, it was bound to happen one day and that day turned out to be today. BP gas stations use green nozzle handle for gasoline where as the rest of the civilized world uses green for diesel. Never going back to BP station except as a last resort. Fortunately, I realized what I did before I cranked my truck. I did have to turn the key to the accessory position in order to put the truck in neutral so it could be towed to the dealership. The truck had about 6.5 gallons of diesel in it and I pumped 29.5 gallons of gasoline in the tank. I love bad days that just cost me money ..read more

2020 Chevy 3500hd dually Duramax Particulate filter

After a year and a half of numerous check engine lights and various bad sensor error codes I finally found a diesel mechanic who knew what was going on. Recently I had a P2002 error. The particulate filter needed replacement. Thankfully I had my warranty. I have 57,000 mile and about 790 hours on the Duramax. The whole exhaust system pipes and all was replaced. Liberty Chevrolet in Sturgis, South Dakota is the most professional, friendly and perfect older dealership. They even gave me a loaner so I could get some lunch. They were efficient when locating the part and honest with estimate of tim ..read more

L5P Question

Since I haven't yet towed with the '22 3500 Denali, does the L5P have a "sweet spot" like the older Duramaxes do? My '02, when towing, seems to have a sweet spot right about 62 mph, max. I lose 1-1.5 mpg towing at 65. First tow will be in 2 weeks, so I'll see how it goes. I'll stick with 65 and see. Endurance tires are 81 mph rated, so no issues there. Lyle ..read more
