Hafnartorg Gallery is a classy Reykjavik food hall

The latest food hall to open in Reykjavik is the Hafnartorg Gallery. Situated near the Harpa and the brand new five-star Reykjavik Edition Hotel, the Gallery Hafnartorg fits its swanky newly developed area with stylish decor and a great selection of shops and restaurants. I have not visited the shops at Gallery Hafnartorg. I am more of a food and beer guy than a shopper! The hustle and bustle of Gallery HafnartorgUpgrade from the gravel parking lot To put it mildly, the new Hafnartorg district in the Reykjavik city center is a major upgrade. The area used to be a derelict and windswept gravel ..read more

The best beer in Reykjavik – Skál!*

Reykjavik is famous for its vibrant nightlife. There are loads of places that play all the latest music loud. They are filled with trendy people having the time of their life. I, however, absolutely detest this. Loud nightclubs and bars are just annoying to me, and I dislike intensely being around many drunk people. I want to sit down with a nice beer and have an intelligent conversation. Fortunately, a few bars in central Reykjavik are close to each other and combine beer from microbreweries and a cozy atmosphere. Yes, I am a terrible snob and heavily into micro-brewed beer. And for a country ..read more

The Beer Spa – Perfect Combination in Northern Iceland

I love combinations. Like Oreo and ice cream, red wine and cheese, beer and pizza. Or perhaps beer and spa! If you fancy that combination, you are in luck. The Beer Spa opened last summer near the lovely town of Akureyri and it has been a big hit. We tried to book there last summer but it was completely full. Book the Beer Spa and support Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine To be honest it was a factor that we did not want to be driving ourselves and wanted to hitch a ride with my brother who is always busy working. The beer spa is supplied by the nearby by Kaldi brewery, which makes fantastic cr ..read more

Travel would include an hour’s drive to Þorlákshöfn and a 4 hour of sailing. Icelanders didn´t go there very often (or land crabs, as the We ..read more

Get the Perfect Brunch- Try Our Favorite Café in Akureyri

Stuck in Iceland went to Akureyri, the jewel of the north over the Easter weekend. Akureyri has a lot to offer, endless opportunities for outdoor activities, a vibrant culture scene and some good restaurants. Some were a disappointment this time around, but two new ones really impressed us. The legendary Indian curry hut has been relocated and has a new name: Indian Curry House. Now they have seating but it used to be takeaway only. It delivers on solid curries, poppadoms and naan bread. We also found our new favorite café in Akureyri. Excellent Food But the real find this time around was a lo ..read more

The Best Pastry in Reykjavik – indulge in sinful delights

Confession time is here and I admit that I  have a sweet tooth. So for me, it was both a blessing and a curse when (Website / Facebook page) opened. Reykjavik,  and Iceland in general, have plenty of nice bakeries and cafés. But there is something extra special about the simple carbs that Brauð og Co offers. In my opinion, they have the best pastry in Reykjavik. And no this is not an ad. I have no affiliation with Brauð & Co. I just happened to walk past their bakery in downtown Reykjavik this morning and got myself a good cup of coffee and some amazing piece of sugary lovel ..read more
