On January 13th, 2022 our firstborn baby girl arrived. The weeks leading up to that / the end of my pregnancy was rough. After an uneventful, pretty smooth pregnancy throughout my first and second trimesters, the entire tone changed around 32 weeks when I began experiencing pre-term contractions. Within days of their onset, I was pulled off of work & put on early disability leave, and was instructed to be on modified bedrest; aka - able to move around the house, but no exercising, walking, running errands / walking around stores, no heavy lifting of any kind. Nerves ran high as I was essen ..read more

We’re Pregnant!!!

I truly cannot even tell you how surreal it feels to be writing this. I’m sure every mom feels this way when they first find out, but for so long pregnancy has been a theme in my life without it really pertaining to me. I feel like I’ve seen so many pregnancy announcements from friends, old classmates, coworkers. Heck, I work with almost all pregnant patients! I spend my days talking about a baby’s development, studying it closely on ultrasound, discussing with doctors etc. But when I saw those two faint lines show up a few minutes after I took my OWN test - woah. A feeling I can’t ..read more

Anyone else dread going into a situation (especially when there’s a job on the line) and NOT knowing what to expect!? I feel like I’m generally a pretty confident person in the realm of sonography, but interviews literally turn me into a different human. I can easily get SO in my head, wondering what I need to do/say/wear to have the best possible outcome. I have been through several interview processes at this point and each have been so different from the next. So, I have gathered what I believe are the most important tips + things to know for interviews & am gonna share them with y’all ..read more

2021 Intentions

Ah, the beginning of New Year! Well, its February.. but in true Toni fashion, I am just now writing this post. ? Every year, I write a resolution-type post. As cliche as it feels, its really cool to look back on every year and see what my mindset was going into the year & how I stuck to those intentions, or didn’t. Isn’t it interesting what a change in a calendar year does for us? A few Sundays ago, I heard my church pastor talking about how much grace we extend on ourselves once in the New Year. He began talking about how we all take this season to reassess different goals and areas in ou ..read more

Sink or Swim

"Sink or swim!" is something we've all heard when trying something as a student or new grad, right? AKA - "time to figure out if you can do this or not!"   You know that moment: the time when your supervising tech in clinicals tells you to take the machine to L & D and scan a baby after the mom is status-post MVA. You look left, right, and behind yourself like, "who, me?!". Or the time you shadowed another tech on an exam you haven't yet learned, and the next time a patient comes in needing that exam, you're asked to do it -- after only watching one be done -- and now you're thro ..read more

Our trip to Sedona, AZ
A Girl Named Toni Blog

In early June, we celebrated 2 years of marriage by taking in the amazing views of Sedona, Arizona! We booked the 2-day trip on a whim, and went into it with it almost no plans (the way we usually do most of our trips? ) but that ended up being the best thing! While we’re both big planners, we always enjoy trips more when there’s not a strict schedule to maintain. Quarantine restrictions were just starting to be lifted, and it felt like we hadn’t spent actual time outdoors in months, which made this trip all the more amazing! Several of you have asked where we stayed, hiked, and what our hotel ..read more

All about Nuchal Translucency Certification
A Girl Named Toni Blog

Hey y’all! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted any real sonography content & that’s mostly been because I was working hard for my NT certification which I finally got!  ?? I posted about it on my feed & there was some interest to know more about the process so that’s what I am sharing with you guys today! What is the Nuchal Translucency? Nuchal translucency is a fluid-filled space identified at the back of the fetal neck during 11 weeks 3 days to 13 weeks 6 days gestation. A thickened measurement of the NT can indicate chromosomal abnormalities. Simple as it may seem, the me ..read more

When I think back on this year, I am just overwhelmed with the way God has provided for me. SO MUCH has happened in the last 365 days. Exactly one year ago, we were in our Belmont Shore apartment (such a good time in our lives!) and I was still working at my first job. Out of pretty much nowhere in the middle of the year, our entire life was spun around when I got offered an immense blessing of a new job, which then led us moving to Newport. Zack has continued to grow in his job this year and has accomplished so so much. I am so proud of him & the way he brings honor to The Lord & fur ..read more

In my most recent post (you can read it here) I talked about part one of our 2 week trip to Europe this past October. We spent a week in Greece and then a week in Italy. I felt like it was going to be the world's lengthiest post if I tried to recap both places in one blog, so I broke them up in two parts. Today, I'm recapping our week in the paradise that is southern Italy! We had been to Italy once before, about 2 years ago (you can read about that trip here). We did Florence, Cinque Terre (where we got engaged!) & Rome. Ever since then, I have been itching to go back. Italy has such ..read more

Last month, Zack and I took the most incredible trip to Greece & Italy! We were absolutely swooned by all the places we got to see. I have many questions to answer + things to share with y'all, so I'm breaking it up into 2 separate posts, one for Greece, one for Italy! Today I'm sharing all the deets of our time in Athens & Santorini!! ATHENS Let me just start off by saying this place is severely underrated. We only booked a two night stay in Athens because everything we had heard from people who had been there was that besides the Acropolis,  there wasn't much to do. We were SO ..read more
