When the shots aren't falling, sometimes all you can do is go after the rebound and try again. That was Virginia's mentality on Wednesday night as the Cavaliers attempted an astonishing 76 field goals, but made only 29 of them. But by winning the rebounding battle 60-22 and scoring 26 second-chance points, Virginia (7-2) pulled away in the second half for its third-consecutive victory, beating Rider (2-6) 78-51 on Wednesday night at John Paul Jones Arena.
To say that Virginia's offense was ice-cold to start the game would be something of an understatement. Rider came out in a compac ..read more

A win is a win is a win. Isaac McKneely came out on fire, hitting the first four treys he attempted. Averaging a little under 12 points/game, McKneely had 12 points in the game’s first four minutes. NC Central was never in this game.

After going 6/8 from deep against Syracuse, McKneely followed that up by going… 6/8 from beyond the arc. He tied the career high he set against Syracuse with 22 points ..read more

Any concerns over the possibility that the Cavaliers might have a hangover game against a lesser opponent after delivering a pair of statement wins over major conference competition last week were laid to rest rather quickly. Isaac McKneely repeated his performance from Saturday's win over Syracuse, matching his career-highs with six threes and 22 points to lead Virginia (8-1) to a thorough 77-47 demolition of NC Central (4-6) on Tuesday night at John Paul Jones Arena.

Virginia women's basketball (6-2) played its first true road game of the season and passed that test with flying colors, gradually overwhelming and overpowering La Salle (3-4) 94-73 on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
La Salle struck first on a three-pointer from Molly Masciantonio, but Virginia responded by scoring the next six points and going on a 17-2 run that included eight points from Paris Clark. The Explorers fought back, knocking down three triples in the opening period, but a pair of free throws from Taylor Lauterbach gave Virginia a 25-16 lead at the end of the first quarter ..read more
