Mason Knipp is committed to developing as a football player. It's a work ethic that led him to Iowa state high school wrestling titles the last two winters.  The Waterloo Columbus Catholic senior thought about accepting a scholarship from the University of Northern Iowa. He decided that the way he's wired, walking on at the University of Iowa was his best choice.  "I considered UNI as my other top option during recruitment. Iowa guard Dasonte Bowen announced Wednesday that he was entering the transfer portal. A tournament that a lot of teams turned down felt like another opportunity for Iowa’s men’s basketball team to keep playing. The Hawkeyes aren’t done yet. Payton Sandfort had a career-high 30 points and Ben Krikke had 24, 21 in the second half, as Iowa defeated Kansas State 91-82 in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday night. Aaliyah Guyton continued down a preordained path when she signed with Iowa back in November. The dynamic Class of 2024 guard was born into basketball. Perhaps it was her first word.  Her mom and dad would be OK with that. They're hoopers. A few big-name programs decided to skip the NIT this season. Iowa wasn’t going to do that, coach Fran McCaffery said on Monday. The Hawkeyes (18-14) will play host to Kansas State (19-14) in Tuesday’s NIT first-round game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and McCaffery knows the value of playing in the 32-team tournament.
