The Ipswich Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and community partners, will hold an event to collect prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27. The annual Drug Take Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middle High School. It will be combined with the annual Touch a Truck event, giving younger residents the opportunity to explore police, fire and EMS vehicles, as well as construction vehicles. IPSWICH — Chief Paul Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department responded to an accidental gun discharge at a local brewery on Friday afternoon. On Friday, March 29, at approximately 5:17 p.m., Ipswich Police were called to the True North Ale brewery at 116 County Road for a report of a gunshot being fired. Officers arrived to discover that a man in the brewery’s dining area was shot when a gun he was carrying accidentally discharged. The Police and Fire Departments would like to share the following safety tips ahead of tomorrow’s expected storm. At this time, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning across Massachusetts for Tuesday, Feb. 13. Snow accumulations of as many as 7-13 inches are possible, with wind gusts potentially approaching 40 miles per hour.   Recent storms and downed limbs and brush from this summer and fall year has Ipswich residents cleaning up and burning debris from around their property.  The open burning season began on January 15th and runs through May 1st. A permit is required to burn brush.  Fire Chief Paul J. Chief Paul Nikas shares that the Ipswich Police Department received  $30,467 in grant funds through the Edward J. Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
