The Mets’ starting rotation has been very up-and-down to start this season. There have been some bright spots along the way, such as the ascension of Jose Butto and the early season success of Luis Severino, but there have also been some negatives with this group. The over-lying issue early this season has been their inability to work deep into ballgames, ultimately leading to the bullpen being overworked night in and night out less than a month into the regular season. Mets President of Baseball Operations David Stearns addressed that issue and many others while speaking with reporters before ..read more

Kodai Senga took another big step on his road to recovery on Monday afternoon. The Mets' ace right-hander threw around 20 pitches to High-A hitters at Citi Field for the first time since being shut down with a capsule strain in his right shoulder during spring training. “I feel great,” he said afterwards through a translator. “I’m relieved, everything is progressing well. I was able to check my velo with hitters in there versus just bullpen sessions and I was able to get up to the mid-90s, so I’m pretty happy with that.” While it remains to be seen how he'll feel tomorrow, Mets manager Carlos ..read more

Jalen Brunson’s 47-point, 10-assist game pushed the Knicks to a huge Game 4 win on Sunday. He was remarkable. But New York needed other key performances to get the win. Below, Brendan Brown -- who has spent three decades in the NBA as a coach, scout and broadcaster – breaks down the key factors in Game 4 (and in the series) as the Knicks prepare for Game 5 on Tuesday: DON'T UNDERESTIMATE WHAT BRUNSON JUST DID BROWN: "'He does things like this all the time’ ...no, not like that. When you score 47 of your team’s 97 points and have 10 assists with just one turnover, that’s pretty much a perfect g ..read more

Brandon Nimmo reveals why Mets haven't worn black or blue uniforms yet this season
SNY.tv
by Danny Abriano

With the exception of one Mets home game this season -- the debut of the City Connect uniforms this past Saturday -- there has been a constant with the uniform New York wears at Citi Field: Pinstripes with the blue hat. As blackout Fridays passed without the black jersey and cap being worn, and every game passed without the alternate blue jersey and cap being worn, the belief was that the Mets simply didn't have the necessary elements of either uniform on hand. Brandon Nimmo confirmed that belief over the weekend, telling Newsday's Tim Healey that the team hasn't received the pants that go wit ..read more

Here are five things to watch as the Mets and Chicago Cubs play a three-game series at Citi Field starting on Monday... What will happen with Mark Vientos? Vientos performed very well late last season when he was given a legitimate chance to play -- especially power-wise -- and had the inside track to the DH job heading into the 2024 season until the Mets signed J.D. Martinez. Called up from the minors with Starling Marte on the bereavement list, Vientos delivered late on Sunday. He singled in his first at-bat and then blasted a game-winning, two-run homer to center field in the 11th inning. A ..read more

Rangers handle business with first-round sweep of Capitals, buying time that could fuel run in NHL playoffs
SNY.tv
by Anthony McCarron

Yes, this series was a mismatch that should’ve ended just as it did, in a four-game sweep. The Rangers are, stem to stern, better than the Washington Capitals -- more skilled, certainly deeper with an elite goalie as well as a seemingly-endless reservoir of resiliency. One team won the Presidents’ Trophy; the other was the last one to clinch a playoff spot. But give the Blueshirts credit for managing a business-like, first-round victory that got them to the second round. And got them some rest, which can be so valuable this time of year. Past Ranger teams know full well what it’s like to ..read more

The Rangers advance to a second-round date in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the winner of the series between the Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes. Igor Shesterkin was terrific in goal again, making 21 saves. He allowed only seven goals in the series. The Rangers have now beaten the Caps ea ..read more

Joel Embiid explains 'disappointing' feeling of pro-Knicks crowd at 76ers' home court

The Knicks' 97-92 Game 4 win over the 76ers at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia drew an announced attendance of 21,048. New York fans were audibly among that figure Sunday, and it did not appear to sit well with franchise player Joel Embiid. "Disappointing," said Embiid, a seven-time All-Star and the 2023 NBA MVP. "I love our fans. Think it's unfortunate. And I'm not calling them out, but it is disappointing. Obviously, you've got a lot of Knicks fans and they're down the road. Never seen it, and I've been here for 10 years. Kind of pisses me off, especially because Phill ..read more

OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa rise to occasion against Joel Embiid in Knicks' Game 4 win at 76ers
SNY.tv
by Ian Begley

PHILADELPHIA -- The Knicks were up three with about three minutes to go on Sunday. They trapped Tyrese Maxey on a pick-and-roll, leaving Kyle Lowry wide open behind the arc. OG Anunoby was the closest defender to Lowry. He left Joel Embiid and sprinted toward Lowry. Watching from a few feet away, Precious Achiuwa knew exactly where to go. "I'm reading OG to see if he was going to rotate to Kyle," Achiuwa said. "Kyle jumped in the air to shoot the ball, and I was just reading the ball. He passed it to Embiid, so it was just an automatic read-and-react type of play really." Achiuwa blocked ..read more
